Fx 8150 and i5 2500k

Thread Starter
I am going to upgrade my cpu and now im now im considering bw fx 8150 and i5 2500k. People say i5 is better, but how much better? I am not planning to oc it. From 1-10, how would u rate those two cpu?

The thing is i am having an amd mobo, so im really into the fx 8150, but if the i5 is significantly better then i will change the mobo. Using this for gaming.

Fx 8150 is cheaper than i5 biggrin.gif

What motherboard do you already own?

The i5 wins hands down!

Also if you're not overclocking, you might as well jump straight to Ivy Bridge, such as the i5 3570K (it does of course overclock, but I'm sure you'll get the itch soon enough biggrin.gif).

I only upgrade if the intel is significantly better. Since if i use intel i will have to buy new mobo.

if I'm not mistaken the i3 runs the house on the 6 core fx guy,,,,,or comes darn near close....either or, always been for intel but thats my 2 cents to give an idea

Go with the i5 it is a much better processor than the fx 8150! I know you said your not interested in overclocking but sandy bridge is amazing for overclocking. You can even get a very good stable overclock on air. My suggestion would be to shop around a little on ebay/craigslist for an i5 2500k because they can be found at a really good value if you just look around biggrin.gif
