Try Beyerdynamic DT770s, make sure to stay at 80 ohm impedance or under if you don't have an amp. If you can't find those in your budget, maybe Audio Technica ATH-M50s, they're recommended often, and are supposedly pretty good for the price. Orcas won't come close to a pair of decent headphones in this price bracket.
Ultrasone HFI-580s would also be pretty good too. A friend of mine went from Razer Megalodons to DT770 Pros, and he loves them compared to his Razers.
Edit- Not sure where you would pick these up in Australia, or how much they would cost, so I'm going by US prices, but the 2 currencies are pretty close.

Thanks! Another tip, try to stick with closed headphones if your music preferences tend towards the bass heavy genres. Closed back headphones generally have more bass, but at the expense of lacking the open sound of, well, open backed headphones. With that said, there are closed headphones that cost more, that do have sound rivaling that of other open headphones, such as Denon D2000, D5000, and D7000, but those are all well out of your price range.

There are also exceptions to the open-backed having less bass. Something like the Hifiman HE-300 (~250$ USD) has an astonishing amount of mid-bass for its open design. Most planar-magnetic driver headphones also have that bass, like the higher end Hifimans. which go from about 400$ to over 1200$

I used to have XB700s, and I've used the 500s. I'm not a fan of them now after hearing some other choices, they sound like speakers in tin cans to me. Sure they have bass, but I sold mine as soon as I could after I got my Sennheiser HD428s, which aren't amazing cans either, but they sounded oh so much better and more balanced than the Sony XBs.
If you don't mind modding, you can pick up 428s for real cheap (~45$ here), and do a bass mod on them, which only requires you to remove 4 screws and peel back a tiny bit of tape, and depending on how much tape you remove, you get more bass, or less, but punchier bass. They don't keep up with the Sonys in sheer bass quantity, but the rest of the spectrum sounds much more balanced, and has less of that V-curve of the Sonys.
