Since I'm no longer under warranty on my G73, I wonder if it's worth the $120, the spare tube of OCZ freeze I have and the tearing apart of my laptop to go from the 720QM 1.6-2.8GHz to the 840QM 1.87-3.2GHz just for games.

Sounds like alot of work for minimal gains but it's not just clock speed, the 840QM also has 2mb more cache.

That i7-970 for $449 doesn't look bad. 6 cores is never a bad thing for a folding machine. 1366 motherboards are fairly cheap too.
