It's the sound the computer makes; you cannot use hard data from the fans to prove that one fan sounds better to me. Everyone should listen for themself before deciding; I did and I found that I like Noctuas the best. Stop trying to make your opinions fact.

Hey, wasn't this thread supposed to be about helping someone with their computer? Why don't we go back to that and let him decide for himself which is best based on the data provided. Please provide those tests proving the spec sheet data for those fans was wrong; that would be helpful.

In Martin's videos, OP can in fact listen to fans for himself in a proper 1 to 1 test and decide w/o someone giving color commentary on the platitudes and nuances of subjective preferences on sound.

Now, another problem. My case http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p11230_Mountain-Mods-Extended-Ascension-CYO-Anodize-Black-with-2-Big-Window-Panel.html has 25 x 120mm fan openings. And I will be using 21 of them. Now, I can do this in many ways. The 2 rad blocks , the 4 x 480 and the 3 x 360 could be set this way: one of them push air out of the case trough the rad and the other one to push air inside the case trough the rad, with the 4 fan holes left open to compensate for the difference. Or both blocks to push the air out, but in that case I would need powerful (and noisy) fans on the 4 holes left to bring air inside the case.

Next question, which one would be more effective, push or pull the air trough the rad? I wouldn't want to get the sandwich solution, because that way I would end up with 42 fans.

Thank you!
The number of rads you use depends on the thickness of the rads, I should add. They probably come with rated cooling capacities. You should try to optimize your water cooling system, so that you use as many rads as you need, but don't overdo it, like using 4 480 rads, for example.

You should consider Caselabs; they make great cases for water cooling.

That's a nice case. But it isn't quite cheap, and with the shipping cost it will cost the same as the one I want : http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p11230_Mountain-Mods-Extended-Ascension-CYO-Anodize-Black-with-2-Big-Window-Panel.html but wouldn't have as much space inside as the Mountain Mods case has. And for me, that's important. Being my first build, that large case would make my job easier.

And getting back to the fan thing. I share the Art Vanelay's opinion, the Silent typhoon has a rather annoying sound at a higher rpm. Of course, having 21 of them means I could run them at half their max speed or even less, and keep them inaudible. But when I need to push them, I don't think I would like that sound multiplied by 21. tongue.gif The Noctua sounds good as well, but they don't have as much static pressure as the Noiseblocker. Well, that's what I know from the manufacturer specifications. Not always reliable info though.rolleyes.gif

And for the rads, I know the amount of them is way too much for my needs, but I hope that the more I have, the slower I can run the fans, being able to push them when I overclock, and still keeping them silent.

And for the cooling liquid, from what I learned, dye is the worst thing I could choose, considering the clogging and the frequency of maintenance. So, clear liquid would be the best bet. Is it any difference between distilled water and something like this: http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p9003_Koolance-Liquid-Coolant-bottle-low-conductivity--23-67oz--700ml.html

And yes, this isn't a building log. I will start one at the end of the month when I will place the orders for my components.

They make a whining noise, and I don't like it. Please accept that your subjective opinion is not fact.
Also, GTs have less static pressure than Noctuas, and only have something like 8 CFM more; the Noiseblockers have more airflow and static pressure than the GTs. There is good cause for someone to go with something other than the GTs. Also, if I were to go for a WC setup, I probably would use NF-P12s, rather than F12s, as they are pretty much silent IMO.
Edit: I missed your double post
If you are going to claim something, it would be helpful to have a source to back it up.

I have to agree, GT can be really whine and growl (SPCR and martin210 pointed this out) on radiators and they are fine if you run them at 7v or less. You should really ignore manufactures specs they are just a lot of crap, unless the fan was manufactured for industrial use like the GT. You can only compare fans that have been tested on the same experimental set up done by someone like martin210 (i.e. an independent tester).

Personally I prefer the sound of Yate Loons or Gelid Silents, as I think they have a more comfortable tone across all the RPMs they run at. But as people have said fan noise is subjective.

That case just looks a bit too big. You can put 3 560 rads into the Caselabs case I showed you, and it has the best cable management features of any case I have seen. I don't think you need anything bigger than that.

That liquid has corrosion and biological growth inhibitors. For the biological growth, you just need a silver coil.

That's the whole point of getting a ridiculous amount of rads? Or are you going waste and waste that by over buying rads by three times the need, only to defeat this by running fans at max? It doesn't matter what something whines like at max, because with over three times the heat load in rad surface area, you will never need to run the fans above 1000rpm! That's the point imo. And if you look at the data, it speaks for itself what fan is best in all respects at 1000rpm.

Please stop beating a dead horse; he has decided which fans he likes the best.

I managed to find an experiment done on the heat dissipation of various radiators at different heat loads and fan speeds. This might help to get a feel for how many radiators and what fin density you need.
http://skinneelabs.com/triple-radiator-comparison-v2/
Warning: 9 FPI radiator (Click to show)
Warning: 14 FPI radiator (Click to show)
Warning: 20 FPI radiator (Click to show)
From these graphs you can see that, if you want to use fans at a low RPM, then you are best off getting a very low FPI radiator. If you are fine with high RPM fans running during load, get a 20FPI radiator.

Ok, good to know. So, low rpm fans go with low fpi rads.
So, this one: http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p12386_Aquacomputer-airplex-modularity-system-360-mm--copper-fins--one-circuit--stainless-steel-side-panels.html or this one: http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p5422_XSPC-RX360-Triple-Radiator.html

The second one is also 70 EUR cheaper than the first, and it has an 8 fpi. It seem like a good choice to me. What do you think?
Nefandir also recommended in a previous post the XSPC RX360 so, I think I will go with this one.

And for the pumps, I was thinking about this one : http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p2833_Aquacomputer-Aquastream-XT-USB--12V-Pump--Ultra-Version.html instead of the D5.
