Almost makes me want to get this monitor. 120hz 1080p pushed my GTX 680 harder than this 1440p monitor does.

REALLY?! Like what is so special about playing fps on 120Hz. Does it make you game smoother. Games are already smooth as long as you play them at 50

I know it sounds stupid but you really dont notice it till you play on 120hz and then go back to something else. If your used to 60hz then it wont be a noticeable difference at all.

I play a lot of bf3 and its very fast paced in some situations and thats the only time I notice it. 1440p is soooooo much better looking though especially on a 27" monitor.

I'm used to 60Hz myself but when pushing beyond 60FPS, screen tearing is bad and ruins my experience. I would love to go 1440p or 1600p but my FPS would be too high for a 60Hz screen. And no Vsync is out of the question before you suggest that lol

A family member recently got the new BenQ and my god 120Hz is sublime to work with, games like TrackMania Nations for example look beautifully smooth. On 60Hz it's hideous....another example is Portal, a game plagued with significant screen tearing.

The lag induced by V-Sync is tied to refresh rate. At 120Hz, V-Sync lag is half of what it is at 60Hz. Even at 85Hz I found V-Sync lag negligible.

Most 120Hz monitors have low native lag (the lag caused by the actual monitor itself). In my case, the native lag of my 120Hz monitor with the lag of V-Sync at 120Hz combined, was still equal or less than the native lag of my 60Hz monitor without V-Sync.

Well what can you do? All 120Hz+ panels are TN. It is a shame really, but if they released a 120Hz+ IPS it would be ungodly expensive.

All 120hz+ panels aren't TN, and the opposite of ungodly expensive. Search catleap.

I have looked into this a little bit and there are concerns. The below may be incorrect but it is what I gathered from quick reading:

- the 120 hz catleaps have stopped being released and will not be back in stock on 120hz.net until winter, this means you need to hope and pray you win an ebay auction (which there are none posted as of right now)

- you cannot get 120hz on SLI nvidia cards, only around 100 hz, only single card solutions can do this

- warranty + support from a known company. Asus support may be terrible but in the end I will be able to have a valid warranty from a company with a presence in the states

- can do 3D if you wanted

if there was a 120 hz IPS panel from a company with a warranty and it was under $1000, would be great, but at the time there isn't

They have not stopped being released and there are pre-orders.

100Hz is a nvidia hardware limitation. If you think 1920x1080@120hz is better than 2560x1440@100hz, have fun, I choose the later.

I'd like to play around with 3D vision, but when it comes down choosing 60hz 3d low res TN vs 100-120hz 2d high res IPS, I again choose the later.

There are 120 hz IPS panels with a warranty under $1000.
