100Hz is a nvidia hardware limitation. If you think 1920x1080@120hz is better than 2560x1440@100hz, have fun, I choose the later.
I'd like to play around with 3D vision, but when it comes down choosing 60hz 3d low res vs 100-120hz 2d high res, I again choose the later.

There are 120 hz IPS panels with a warranty under $1000.

120Hz IPS for under $1000? Yeah but i want 3 in surround. Catleaps are more trouble than they are worth in terms of getting hold of one and if something goes wrong with them, it's a serious PITA to get one replaced. Sorry but i don't want all that hassle...also Catleaps are just a trend and people follow trends on OCN and through out the web, i do not.

People get too hooked up in resolution, more than 3/4 of the people that talk about a higher resolution than 1080p don't even have the hardware requirements to run a single display let alone surround, which i find absolutely hilarious.

Also, as for 3D Vision. It's a load of tosh.....marketing gimmicks at their finest. You'll find yourself playing around with it for a few weeks with some games, and i can guarentee you'll stop using it within a month and forget about it and go back to 2D.

EDIT: Get a sig man, you been here long enough

No.

A great trend of less expensive monitors with features not offered otherwise.

>People get too hooked up in resolution

No.

> more than 3/4 of the people that talk about a higher resolution than 1080p don't even have the hardware requirements to run a single display let alone surround,

Possible, not that it matters.

Meh.

People aren't buying Catleaps because they're a fad, they're buying them because they currently offer the best bang for your buck in terms of an IPS panel.

It's not just the viewing angles.
The colors are more accurate and it just plain looks better than a TN panel.

Just because a display uses an IPS panel, it does not mean the colours will be more accurate. Many people, including myself have received Korean IPS panels with very strong blue tints out of the box. IPS are the least consistent in terms of out of the box colour accuracy and contrast, the contrast can very by up to 50% in extreme cases (20-30% is more common) between two identical models.

IPS=Viewing angles that are wider than TN & VA, no gamma shift and IPS glow. Those are the 3 IPS traits which are guaranteed.

I thought it was rather obvious, IPS panels are usually preferred due to viewing angles. Most people sit directly in front of their PC so it's all a bit meaningless for the majority. Even in surround the angles aren't substantial enough for IPS to make that much of a difference over a TN.

That's nonsense, it's all down to personal preference of the individual. Same argument can be said for Glossy or Matte displays......it's user preference.
