Asus VG278HE 144Hz (in stock) - Page 6

I don't get/I don't see any tearing below 100 fps at 100hz, and when I do switch it back to 60hz... I see it all the time. Adaptive vsync works extremely well for me.

If you are a competitive FPS or fighting game fan, then sure. But if that is the case why not just run a CRT and be done with it?

It's getting difficult to find healthy examples.
They give CRTs away on craigslist. Of course, that's in the real world, in NZ it might be a PITA and cost you $1000:)

Exactly.

And also, when I say healthy, I mean really pristine examples with low use, or unused ones. The give away ones are probably not going to serve you for too long, if they don't have uncorrectable issues already.

The great thing about free is they're free, longevity not an issue.

The biggest CRT I can find here in NZ is a 19", with the very horrible ratio of 4:3 puke.gif

And the same applies to the monitor in my sig, 1920x1080 is already too course for 23" let alone 27". I was just using a U2711, and with it's fine pitch it was like a breath of fresh air.
Massive pixel pitch has widely become the norm since LCD took over and everyone just got used to it and forgot what a fine pitch looks like. I'm glad that 2560X1440 is becoming more common at 27".

It's all a bit moot, if you want anything above 1080p with high refresh rates it's the Catleaps or bust. Truth is we are stuck with 1080p @ 120Hz+ for sometime to come. Monitor evolution is very slow over the last few years and apart from 3D Vision that brought us higher refresh rates to 2D not much has really changed.

2560x1440/1600 is fine for creative design work (AutoCad, 3DMark etc), but for gaming 1080p with high refresh rates is all you need. I'm not even sure why the debate of IPS vs TN even came into this thread. We all know the Asus model is a TN from the get go...but people sure like arguing over the details.....

Just wish someone would buy one already or a review was done.

False.

Because its competition is IPS, IPS is better than TN and catleaps are better than this asus or any other 1080p TN.

I don't get it, what is the difference between TN and IPS. I find my monitor brilliant, it's very vibrant with colour and clearness.
