AMD CPU Overclocking

Thread Starter
I have a laptop with the AMD Turion Ultra II M620 2.6Ghz processor. I want to overclock it given the new processor I want is about $190 frown.gif (its the AMD Turion Ultra II M660 2.7Ghz). I am Having a really difficult time onlocking my BIOS or getting software that will work for overclocking. My laptop is the Compaq Presario C6-411WM With the HP motherboard. I have read these are hard to overclock, but not impossible. Can someon tell me how?smile.gifsmile.gif

My advice would be to not overclock a laptop, given your limited ability for cooling. You could try through AMD Overdrive, if it's supported by your mobo, but I wouldn't recommend doing so.

Indeed cooling will be an issue for sure. But This laptop can take a bit of heat though and be fine. The Cpu i currently run on has reached 2.6?? Ghz when heavy gaming on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. I just do not want to shell out $190 for the best cpu i can put in throuh a Socket S1. I Have tried AMD Overdrive, but I do not think it is supported on my laptop, sadly. So, I have a new thought, I am going to buy a new gaming laptop IF this one is completely unclockable. I've been looking at Alienware laptops and think they are far too over-priced. so im just going to buy a laptop with a Dell Core 2 Duo and upgrade things myself, given i am a great soder-er:) THanks for your advice Axxess+

Most of the time upgrating your laptop will not work..... simply BIOS not ready for any changes in the setup.
Build a Tower PC or buy Alienware if you gamer.

I was deffinetly looking into building a gaming tower rig. I know what the parts i need are, and frankly for the games I want, its really expensive for those parts. I reinstalled AMD Overclock and it allowed me to overclock my GPU, now i can play Call of Duty MW3 on EXTRA texture settings. But I guess my BIOS does not allow for an overclock of my cpu? Could I use a different computers BIOS chip, or flash a new BIOS to my current chip? If so, which laptop BIOS allows for overclocking?

Non.... only sometimes after removing battery from your laptop Motherboard you can acсess CPU BIOS feature
but again it's very rare, I remember only few VAIO Sony did that.
Tower is the answer Man.
