Wow SDH500 your a man after my own heart! I KNOW THIS THREAD IS OLD but simply could not resist posting as things have changed in a couple of short months. And Bit_reaper my hat is off to you as well for clearing the air on how very little having "the best" cpu-mobo combo does for every day puter life. I own a Pro computer store and have been "playing" with overclocking and modding for over 22 years. My first water block was made out of cut up socket A coolers & sealed with inner tube pieces & vaseline! I used an old jeep radiator for Rad & old appliance motor and scraped house fan blade for air. Socket A's were cool because you could mod components on chip pcb for OC advantage.

And how the market changes so quickly! Now I am waiting for 2nd 570 2.5gb card because PRICES HAVE GONE UP to over $300. I sold our water pc with a gtx 670 4gb card and honestly really not impressed. Pair of 570's or 580's with 2gb or better vram will definitely outperform the 670. I don't know about you guys but saving $200 if you already have a gtx 570 2.5gb card means you have money for a cpu upgrade. AH HA! This leads me to my final fun point on how quickly the market do change. Now that $200 you saved SDH500 will by you the NEW AMD VISHERA capable "as I've read" of reaching 5.1 + ghz on OC! Watch out Intel guru's their back for anouther...well, Bruce Lee style, in yo face try for glory.

I still have my Sriker II Extreme with quad cpu and the pain in my backside where my wallet sits. Some $1800 on that basic build where AMD Phenom quad (comparable at most things) sat at $600. I am very fortunate to have owned my own computer store for nearly 11 years. I get to play for free & buy at a discount. I love all hardware but unless you have some significant graphics like CAD, movie producing or competetive overclocking to do why spend a year savings on a high end Intel system? Bragging rights are cool don't get me wrong but hanging on the underdog's team & then that rare moment comes when you kick the big dogs rear! That is priceless indeed. Kind of like the USA in WW2 and now. I like being the big dog now and then but I have wrecked my share of cars and bikes racing balls to the walls because never had rich parents or sponsors. I was born a scraper like my late great Dad having 22 years in the Navy & anouther 23 years at a military support facility. He taught me to embrace the challenge!

Sorry if I am out of line jumping in here with my 6 1/2 cents(inflation) but I am 56 years young have a shattered clavicle, 120 stitch scare on my back, 3 broken fingers I set myself, both lungs punctured and I died on the hospital slab for 54 seconds. The ladder because I had no insurance so hospital wouldn't do body scan. turns out my intestines exploded from herniated lower intestine. I am permanently disabled but instead of collecting SSI & being part of this country's liability I chose to keep doing what I love. I also choose not to digest 180 codein & 800 galvopentin, therefor, the choice of sitting around or staying active is a no brainer. I am willing to bet SDH500 & Bit_reaper can relate to at least part of my long winded speech here. Really sorry for making anyone read my boring story but this thread really hit me as I was passing thru....just getting old & sentimental I guess....damn!

Hey Guys, I know this is an old thread but my GTX 570's in SLI kick butt. Problem, I tried a fan unlock flash from EVGA and it didn't work for one of the cards which is now half way to brick. I have tools to re-flash is but like an idiot I never backed up my original bios. Anybody have a bios for the EVGA 025-P3-1579-AR kickin' around that is stable/original or anything?

The sticker on the card says BIOS Version 70.10.38.00.72

Help! I want my SLI back!

That sucks about your card, that is exactly what I did to my card when I flashed one of them, when both were installed. When I get home I'll check to see if I have the same bios. Try hitting up the gtx 570 over locking thread and I know there were websites where you could download stock bios.
