Help! My APU multiplier has gone low.

I was testing the range of memory frequencies available on the AI Tweaker menu in the UEFI BIOS and after I tried 800Mhz the APU multiplier got set to 8.0x and I haven't been able to change it. I can set all kinds of target speeds but the actual APU speed stays at 800Mhz. Not even setting optimized defaults has any effect.

I noticed the following warning in the menu for setting APU Multiplier,
'Set the multiplier between CPU Core Clock and the CPU Bus Frequency. NOTE: If an invalid multiplier is set then actual and setpoint values may differ.'

Does anyone know how to unfreeze this?

I wish! - But thanks for the response.

Both AMD Overdrive and Asus AI Suite are showing 800Mhz whatever target speed I set as well.

I think resetting to 800Mhz Memory Frequency adjusted the APU multiplier below the limit for the A8-3870K. The AI Tweaker Menu in UEFI BIOS does not specify min/max values for APU Multiplier and gives no warnings when applying its own profiles.

I'm building up a list of things that might reset it: I've got Bios update and Ram change so far. Any thoughts?

No Problem and also The Acctually Apu has its own Power saving Feature Im sure you know this, That if it isnt being used or dosent need all the power it can deliver it will down clock its self to save energy.

Asus seems to have renamed everything without telling anyone. The only options I have in BIOS that might equate to C1E and C&Q seem to be the following, with their current settings in [brackets]:

I have found a solution to this problem which consisted of a clean install of Windows XP Home SP3 followed by reinstallation of Asus AI Suite II - my chief suspect after I found this thread at Tom's Hardware>Forum>Overclocking>CPUs>2500k stuck on 16X multiplier - which I then unistalled as soon as it showed APU multiplier was back to normal. In addition I did not install AMD Cool N'Quiet from the motherboard driver disc.

My new rule: keep BIOS control out of the O/S.
