IT'S HERE: My new Alienware M17x - Page 4

Gratz on your purchase.

For me gaming on laptop is long gone for many years. Ever since I start to work at business, all I need is a light notebook for work and to be able to handle design programs on the go. Gaming I would stick to my rig. I don't game when I'm out of my house. =P Except on my iPhone... to kill time.

i don't like macs, alienware etc. because the price/performance ratio is not good, i want bang for my buck, but if i have lots of money like the OP, i will buy all of them, alienware, macs, you name it, i'll buy it. you are only saying that because you don't have lots of money to burn.

How bad is the screen glare? It looks really bad with a black screen. I was thinking of getting one of these but the glare just puts me off. Probably gonna get a np9170 with matte. Congrats though! Good lookin lappy.

When the monitor is off the screen glare is very noticeable as you can see from the pictures. Having said that i dont play games with the screen turned off... what i mean of course is once your in a game then you dont really notice it. Tested out bf3 last night in 3d and it was something to get used to...but def pretty sweet. I think i prefer the glossy over the matte...my desktop monitor is matte and everytime i see a glossy screen, i think the glossy looks sharper and brighter. Then again my desktop monitor is 6 years old...lol...hence the reason for the gift cards and new monitor purchase i am going to make with them.. smile.gif

I have to add to the glare question, my M18x is the same way, glossy and like a mirror when its off... When its on, if you're sitting near a window, there can be glare... On my Sager I shelled out for the 95% color gamut matte screen, and it was nice and all... but I don't really care for the matte as much as i thought I would. Glare hasn't been an issue for me personally... I would take a look at where you would be using it most, then decide. Alienware builds a solid laptop... Despite what people on here will say.

What argument? some people posted some very stupid things, they were responded to, and hopefully that will be it... talk about stirring the pot... LOL

But then again, any reason to have some popcorn is a good one to me! thumb.gif

Personally I would not have the ball's to carry around something that expensive more then to the occasional lan party.

minus the $315 in gift cards that I am also reciving which is not included in the price of the laptop, takes it down to $1938 (Or a free monitor and it be $2250)Also forgot to include the 3d 120hz screen and nvidia 3d bundle in the Sager lappy you priced out....What thats not an option...hmmmm...Try again broski....

Yeah its not going to be something I carry around everywhere I go...Well maybe at first...tongue.gif...Main use will be for lan parties...But there are several games that can be played without the need of a mouse (Most driving games) This is going to allow me to game from my couch...or do school work from my couch, or play Guild Wars 2 from school... wink.gif...
