What PSU for this build?

mobo - p8 z77-v pro
CPU - i3570k
GPU - gigabyte windforce 3 7970 x2
RAM - SAMSUNG 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MV-3V4G3D/US
ssd - SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256B/WW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
hdd - 1tb wd black caviar
optical - ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner

I don't know much about PSUs, so if someone could recommend me a great one, it'd be much appreciated. I'm planning OC'ing most everything , but not to extremes, just a bit to a good enough temp on air cooling. Also it must be modular (or at least semi-modular) and needs 4x6 plugs for the two gpus. Any advice is very much welcome.

edit: forgot to list CPU

I second this.

If you do want completely modular, you may want to look into the new corsair " i " lineup, they are completely modular. At the moment they only have a 1200i, but I'm sure they will introduce lower wattage units soon.

Corsair or Sea Sonic are solid choices, you definitely should have a look at JonnyGuru as he has been reviewing power supplies for ages.

Anyone that'll second that, or suggest something else?

There are many options that can power your system, but in order to suggest something else, we would need to know what's your budget as well as where are you buying it from. Price differences between countries can greatly differ. This is even true with certain brands.

Keep Corsair as a second choice. Seasonic is what you should be looking at as they're the ones who also make PSU's for Corsair tongue.gif

And to be specific, X-850 series should be good enough for you.

750W would be more than enough for that system...we're not talking about GTX580s here tongue.gif
