[NeoGaf/WGTC] Accept Steam Agreement Or Disable Your Account - Page 36

I'll agree to it just to access my current games. But from this point on I'm going back to hard copies until they're no longer produced.
Origin and Steam has reached my tolerance limit. Games are just a hobby, so the service Valve/EA provides isn't something I must have.

Problem is there arent many games out there that dont use origin, steam or some other dd service even if you do buy a physical copy, and the gap is slowly closing.

Yep, unfortunately like almost all indie games for starters.

I just think steam has every right to do this. I just wish they would suspend your account should you wish to file a law suite. Because if they have done something worthy of a law suite they shouldn't be able to penalize you for exercising your rights. That said I do agree with the fact that you shouldn't be allowed to use their service and sue at the same time. They are still absorbing costs for your service while you are suing them for a fault in that service. If the fault in that service is worth suing over I see no reason why you should be still be using the service. I just wish it was not so cut and dry, in that you want to sue you loose all your games.

Nope, under. Call me cheap but I almost always wait for the big sales. I calculated it once and my average dollars spent per game was around $5.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick on this one though. They can put whatever they want in the terms, you can still file a lawsuit and seek class action status, a judge will then decide whether the terms banning class action lawsuits is even enforceable, i.e. is it legal. There have been cases where similar clauses have been upheld, so perhaps it is enforceable, but you can still go through the arbitration. How much money can one really have tied up in a Steam account? Valve isn't out to steal people's money, if they do that then they'll have a hard time keeping customers.

While I think the clause is onerous myself people get too worked up over this stuff.

Don't you lose abilitiy to play your games by disagreeing with Xbox Live and Sony PSN EULA? Microsoft also bans your Xbox 360 for using a non-approved aftermarket hard drive/optical drive.
Life is not fair.

No. If Microsoft bans you from Xbox Live, you can still play all your games offline. Hell, you could even create a new Live account and play the same physical copies (not digital copies) under the new Gamertag.

The problem here, as others have stated, is that Steam can unilaterally change the terms of our business agreement, then deny us access to not only the service they agreed to provide, but also the games that we paid for. We don't need their service to play our games, and if we do, then our money should be refunded if we no longer agree to the terms of service.

Service and content are separate and distinct. Why is this so difficult for people to understand?

No word back from Mr Newell, by the way.

I wonder, can you get your money back for the games you paid for in XBLA if you decide not to use it anymore?

This has been said before, try playing any downloaded content once your live account has been banned and you will not get any sort of refund for the remaining balance of live gold.
Also if you get banned for a hacked console it is the console that is banned not the live account.

The amount of doh.gif is staggering in this thread. You people don't want your consumer rights, you simply don't want to have any rights at all. Many of you will gladly give everything up just for the sake of it.

In time you will have no consumer rights and I bet, even then, many will still blindly follow these companies that only want to milk us.

North Korea, coming to a country like yours. Good luck to you all.
