New Dell U2713 (27" 2560x1440 AH-IPS)

Looks like it's already available for purchase in Japan, Australia, Taiwan, etc.

Pricier than the Korean models and might not even be as good of a screen, but it should be a good option for people wary of the Korean monitors but don't want to shell out the ~$800 for the U2711. Looks like it still has the same antiglare coating people are divisive on.

same Anti-Glare coating -- pass, but new 27" LG AH-IPS panel is very welcome

many buyers will be getting ah-ips non-AG from yamakasi/crossover or hp/asus

I've had bad experiences with the Korean monitors, so hopefully HP or Asus put something out soon without the AG coating.

Dell website:

More info on AH-IPS
"Dell talk about the panel being an "AH-IPS" (Advanced High Performance IPS) classification in their Japanese Press Release. This name is often used in the mobile market to identify high resolution (retina) type panels. In this case, the resolution remains unchanged from the older U2711. The use of this AH-IPS classification seems to be related to the use of W-LED backlighting in the press release, providing up to 37% power savings apparently compared to the U2711. That is more down to the W-LED backlighting though than the different panel type. It remains to be seen whether this AH-IPS panel brings any real change to pixel structure, or if it's just a new name to try and differentiate certain panels generations."

It will use the same coating as the Dell U2711/ZR27440W, so, if one wants a mate 2560x1440p display with extra inputs that is not extremely grainy the semi-glossy Samsung S27A850D is still the only option .

frown.gif I like matte coatings too much.

And also @all saying matte coatings make the screen look ugly, have you ever seen your head on the monitor?

so uh......whats the difference between this 2713 and the old 2711? just the change from using LED backlighting and be more power efficient as a result and nothing else?

The 2713 also adds pivot capability, but lacks the component and composite inputs, and the built-in card reader.
