New Dell U2713 (27" 2560x1440 AH-IPS) - Page 8

Me too. Above all because here in Brazil we can only buy from Dell US site.

I have a question to MenacingTuba or anyone more that knows it: TFT Central says input lag from U2713HM is high but you know that is wrong. How is its input lag more or less?

Looks quite decent, even if not a huge step forward from the previous model.

So, who'll be the first to report if you can run these higher than 60Hz?

It's 15ms which is lower than most other high resolution IPS with scalers which have around 17-20ms delays and some of the older ones are around 25ms.

The U2713's delay is only going to be an issue for hardcore gamers who purposely own delay free displays like CRT's & 120hz displays.

Ok,so the monitor came home. I absolutely love it! I still have a Dell U2410 and there's a difference at all. The monitor is thinner and when you turn it on you will love the display, the 1st thing you will notice. No more grainy image. It feels different when you look at it. Monitor came with Dell display software and lets you set color settings individually for each program/game you want. Had a problem 1st with reading the letters but it feels better now. I dont know what else 2 say. Ive put just a bit of extra hue, bit of sharpness, some contrast and brightness and everything is different. The price was 550 Euro which i consider a good deal. Here's some screenies with all my babies U2410, U2713, U2312.

Took delivery on Friday of this monitor. I was in deliberation for a week or so over the higher pixels density, and did not find any posts showing comparible images displayed on more common 24" panels, so here is my first posting OC.Net to help any others that may be in the same situation.

Side by side view: A big gain in pixel space with too much gain in phyiscal dimensions compared with Dell 2405FPW.

Top Down view: Dell 2405FPW athe rear 2713HM in the front. Again just a few inches wider. Very little difference in height and depth.

Side by Side: Note how 1920 x 1200 deskop wallpaper fits on new 2560 x 1440 desktop. Also displayed are two identical Properties dialog boxes to show the smaller pixels / higher denisty of the 2713HM compared to the 2405FPW.

Side by side again to show a single window, split over the two sceens to illustrate the difference in pixel density again.

Test image to show common monitor resolutions shown on the Dell Ultrasharp 2713HM.
(Test Image can be found on WikiPedia)

All settled in to place. Good bye 2405FPW you served me well!

So after a few days usage I have to say I'm really happy with the upgrade. I'm liking the brightness of the panel and am finding the text size at full resolution just fine. I am using the sRGB setting, which is much less saturated andless bright than the "Standard" setting. USB 3 ports are great and I am pleased not to have the card reader, as my system has one, and I had just too many drives showing before. Plus the 2405FPW didn't read SDHC cards and so had become redundant any how.

There is a nifty Dell Display Manager tool, that lets you control the monitor presents and basic controls. It also lets you dynamically change these settings on a per applications basic . Not sure if I like the screen switching settings as you click from one application to another, but it's pretty clever.

That's all for now...

I couldn't wait for US launch needed new monitor Bought the U2711. Any idea when this launches in US? Might buy a second one. The AG coating on the U2711 doesn't bother me.

Thanks for the pics and impressions, guys. The new anti glare without the haze of the U2711 sounds ideal. Dell is killing me by not releasing it and keeping us US folks in the dark.

nice pictures ! Have you two noticed any image retention? like burn in on plasma screens. 2 people reported they had that on other forums.

In TFT Central's defence they do not provide a value that is 'wrong' at all. Input lag itself is flexible in its definition and can include the signal delay as well as consideration for pixel response times. They are both important elements of total latency and how responsive a monitor will seem to the user - as pointed out in TFT Central's review both components are considered in their test. The 22ms or so measured was very similar to the 22ms or so recorded by Prad.de for the total latency. For pure signal delay 15ms or so is correct. I am reviewing the U2713HM myself at the moment as a user quite sensitive to input lag. To me it does feel snappier than the U2711 for whatever reason and as mentioned above the kind of users who will have a problem with it will likely have a problem with any 60Hz IPS monitor.
