Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H is acting weird with SSDs

Thread Starter
Got a couple sets of 3770k, z77x-ud5h, and 4x4gb corsair vengeance. Also got a 256 Crucial m4, and a 128gb Samsung 830.

With either SSD plugged into the grey, black, or white sata ports, trying to boot a Windows 7, Windows 8, or Acronis Trueimage 2011 DVD causes the motherboard to hard reboot (all lights on board turn off).

Played around with all sort of beta bioses, cranking voltage and clock speeds slightly as per gigabyte forums, etc etc. Still same thing.

Now here is where it gets weird: Clear CMOS, f7 bios (as shipped with), optimized defaults, plug a WD 500gb black hard drive into the white sata port. Windows 7 is loading fine.

Anybody else experience SSD drama with this board?

My Samsung 830 is fine. Are you sure that SSD is still working?

my 830 is fine too.

you need to refine what is going on with exactly what is on the SSDs and exactly what happens? Can you install windows on them?

Maybe it is defective then? But try few things first.

1. Install latest BIOS You already mentioned that.
2. To me, it looks to me the system shuts off under load (even slightest). Possibly a PSU problem. How old it is? Try to disconnect videocards from it.
3. Does that happen with HDD? And that too
Very strange. If HDDs work, SSD should have no problem too. There are no compatibility issues with Samsung 830 for sure.

Please try using Windows 7 USB installer instead.

Two UD5H boards? Can you compare their serial numbers? Maybe they are from the same batch; otherwise, it is very weird.

I haven't seen any issues with my UD5H board, I'm running the F8 BIOS. Only thing that comes to mind is a bad install of windows, yet you said that you've tried 5 different times, most unusual.
