Korean 1440 or Dell 1200 ISP

Hey guys, my current monior ( asus 23" ) has been a great monitor while it lasted, but not even 6 months old and it has a pixel thats stuck on white. letting the flashing programs run for days, and trying to rub and tap it on, its still stuck, so looking to replace my monitor.

I'm either considering a korean 27" 1440p monitor from microcenter for $400
or a dell 24" ISP display at 1200p around the $400 range as well. ( also considering an apple 24" 1200p screen )

I'm moving soon, and I will not have cable at my new place, and I will be using my computer monitor as a tv for watching downloaded movies, streaming, etc. And will be getting rid of my old 720p Tv.

So the 27" will be large enough to watch movies on while not being too small to see across the room, but the build quality and reliability scare me a bit

the dell would come with support, better looking overall apperance ( which is a big thing for me ) and potentially better build quality. ( and a higher grade screen )

As far as gaming, I run a highly overclocked GTX 580, but even that struggles to produce a solid 60fps a little with bf3 on ultra everything on some of the larger 64 player maps. Obviously i'll have to lower the settings for 1200, and even more so for 1440.

tell me what you guys think

I think you mean IPS (In-plane switching), not ISP lol. The dell monitor is probably the most reliable one since it comes from a very well known company with a lot of support. The Korean ones as you know is a bit of a gamble, a small one at that since the chances of receiving defective batches with little support are fairly low. 2560x1440 is an excellent resolution and the IPS quality is beautiful. The Dell monitors have ridiculous amounts of Anti-glare coating which some people like but from what I've seen a lot of people hate it since it degrades the picture quality.

Since you can get the Korean monitors from the states, I think you're better off buying the Korean monitor and use the rest of the money on a second gpu or a new card like the GTX 670. The newer cards handle the 1440p resolution quite well from what I've heard. Also at 27 inches watching movies on a shiny and clear screen can make a great experience.

~85% Chance at receiving a perfect panel and in the case you don't., send it back for one. Comes with 1+ year warranty with paid shipping. Very fast shipping out of Korea. all for <$400. Best computer purchase I have ever made. I could never go back to 1200p thumb.gif
