biggrin.gif thank you!

There are currently only 16 drives located in the front (room for 4 more with power cables already in place, so there won't be any additional bulk there). That would bring it to 20, and then the 6 below the power supply, which will bring it to 26 total. I plan on reverse mounting the drives in that area again, using the custom power cables, everything should be neatly hidden behind the hard drives themselves. If I get to that point, of needing to jump into those bays, I will probably have to source a new motherboard capable of holding another 8 Port PCI-x4 sata card, the current one is maxed out mad.gif

The ONLY thing I wish I could have differently, would be a new fully modular, black braided power supply (Corsair AX would be awesome) to complete the interior look of the case, and shorter SAS-Sata cables that were braided, these ones are 3ft long, I could definitely do for 1.5 FT, but all others on the market are ugly unbraided. Given those things, it turned out exactly as I was hoping it would.

Had the same issue when trying to find a modestly priced, but not horribly looking sas cable (4 of em actually now.) There are ways to sleeve the sata cables, but not sure how well you could pull it off with the sas to sata cables.. might have to dig up a super cheap sas cable and see what i can do with it..

Yeah same here. I don't have any experience sleeving so I didn't feel like getting into the whole mess of it. From what I've seen the way people do it is sleeve 1 large strand from the SAS connection, then overlap the midpoint of the cable where they start to individually sleeve them. It doesn't look half bad, but the midpoint can add a lot of bulk to the cable at that transition point. If you end up doing it, I wouldn't mind seeing it

might play with it if i can find someone to pawn off my 3ft sas cables on.. hehe.. hate having 2.5ft of sata cable x4 coiled up and semi stuff in an "out of the way spot" in my server (3 of them)

Thanks for the comments! The hardware isn't anything fancy, it could definitely use from more ram so it isn't so sluggish with unrar's/conversions but it makes due thumb.gif

I just converted 14 of the drives into 1 large 20.9TB storage pool using Drive Bender http://www.drivebender.com What most people hate about Disparity/unRAID/SnapRaid is that all drives are required to be individually managed, however when used in conjunction with Drive Bender, it allows whatever drives you like to be pooled (AMAZING!) biggrin.gif

Nothing fancy at the moment, my server and PC are connected via cat5 on separate nic's (Gigabit) allows for quick remote desktop/file transfer (hit 80-90mb/s depending on the drive/file set I copy). The rest is just through the router/wifi, if I expand access to other things around the house I would go the switch route to speed everything up.

Nice. Im currently stuck with Verizon DSL -_-. With our new modem finally set up and figured out, no more dropouts, 2.5mbps download, .80 mbps upload.

Ouch! I feel you on the speeds, I use to have 5mbps DSL for about 2 years, it was not fun! I'm on 30/2 now, much better but there is a small bandwidth cap that really sucks, but I guess you can't get the best of both worlds in my area hehe. Hopefully something comes along that you can switch to
