Perhaps it's on the CD-ROM that came with the board??

I can only tell you ways to fix the problem. If you dont want to flash the bios of your mobo, then not, seeing as how your computer works with your old ram, it is not really needed. However, I think you should exhaust ALL possible fixes before contacting the seller, and flashing the bios *could* solve the problem. However, seeing as how the modules came from ebay, I think it more likely they someone took advantage of you.

EDIT: Just to let you know, I have updated the bios of my Asus board with no problems, there is even a program on the disk that comes with your mobo that facilitates you in updating the bios. Its very easy.

5B-G chips? Try running them at 2.5-3-3-7 or 2-3-3-7

Would you believe that the update program needs updating,
and every time I try, it fails to download update, and won't go any further.

I think I might just go back to bed for the day.........

Usually, a bios update occurs through a floppy and it is extremely painless. Also, are you sure your mobo is compatible with that ram?
