You have quite a budget so your best advice would come from some audiophiles. However, I'd like to just suggest the Audio Technica ATH-M50 with my own experience. Some might say they feel a bit tight on the head/ears but you essentially get used to it (depending on the person). Another choice might be the Audio Technica ATH-A700 that I've heard others talk about which is geared more towards gaming (FPS specifically because of its sound stage). You should check out the Audio Recommendation Thread. Hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck.

I hear amazing things about the Audio Technica M50's. I plan on picking up a pair myself.

Depends on what sound you like. For a brighter (more treble emphasis and a bit less bass) you can get some Used- Like New AKG Q701s on Amazon for about 180, and a Fiio E10 to go with it, you don't want to run 701s un-amped. For more bass, a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohms would be great, and again, a Fiio E10 to go with it assuming you don't have a sound card. The AKGs have an amazing soundstage, and are great for gaming, but can be a bit boring if you love bass.
