Remove LEDs from fan (to keep the LED)

Hi all,

I have some old noisy fans with some blue LED's that id like to remove and simply use them to light my case.

I have seen plenty of guides how to remove (or disable) the LED's from fans so you have a unlit fan, however I don't care about the fan, just want a moveable LED.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide? or tell me if this is actually possible?

Thanks!

its not hard, just take off any glue / clips holding in the LED and cut it free.

The LEDs are on a band which is kind of taped/stuck on to the frame of the frame. Pretty sure I can just peel all that off.

However the 1x black + 1x red cable that feeds from the "band" goes into the motor.

Then a separate 1x black + 1x red cable feed back out from the motor to the molex connector.

My guess would be I could cut the set of cables goes in, AND the set of cables going out, and twist them together.

And that would allow me to directly connect the band with LED's to a molex connector?

Does that sound about right haha?
Thanks

BTW I dont mind if I end up breaking them, so no biggy if the idea doesnt work out biggrin.gif

Yea, some have the band but just cut that off.
You are over thinking this though, all you do is cut each LED free. smile.gif
