Looking to water cool - require advice/tips and suggestions please!

I am looking to water cool my PC, that I am buying soon:

Desktop -
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH — $240.00
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K — $249.00
GPU: 2xEVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB FTW in SLI — $1058.00
RAM: G.Skill Ares F3-1866C9D-8GAB 8GB (2x4GB) — $69.00
SSD: SanDisk Extreme SSD 240GB — $249.00
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 — $129.00
Case: Corsair Obsidian 800D — $330.00
PSU: Corsair AX850 Gold Power Supply —$245.00
Sound card: ASUS Xonar DG — $39.00

Total: $2608.00

Would really like to water cool it (hence why the Corsair 800D case), but have no experience in doing so. I know custom water cooling is a lot better, but I only understand a small segment of it. I'm thinking of water cooling the CPU and GPU SLI set up. Any suggestions on a custom water cooling set-up for this pc, or installation guides etc. would be most appreciated - budget of $500 - 600.

This should tell you just about anything you could need to know. smile.gif

500-600 will be a tough price range to stay in for the amount of stuff you want to cool. I did some quick math (i've also got an 800d cooling sli and cpu) and i hit 600 pretty quickly.

I'll throw together a quick parts list here for you... similar to what I have:

Fittings 6.49 x 10 (may need more or less) = $65

Pump$105

Big Rad $92

Small rad $57

Res (this one is nice because it acts as a pump top as well) $60

Basic tubing $23

Cpu waterblock $85

GPU blocks $110.99x2= $222

Silver Coil $7

Additive $5

Total= 721 before fans

As for fans, you could go with a push pull (fan on top blowing, fan on the bottom sucking) or just a one fan setup. Assuming fans are 10 each (mine were, Arctic Cooling F12 pwm) you will spend another 100 on fans. You could go with a kit like the XSPC and just expand from that as time and money permits (will end up costing about the same) or just save up and do full custom all at once. Either way, you will be getting far better cooling for the nice rig you plan to build:thumb:

This is pretty much everything you would need. Somethings could be had cheaper (pump) but that pump really is the best for the money, and by combining your pump and res, you are saving money by not buying a pump top (changes the position of the in/out barbs on the pump).

I hope this was helpful!

Forgot the SLI bridge to connect the GPU water blocks, another 15 (well worth it, might i add).

Enjoy.

Go with Switch 810 case, price is half of 800D and have almost same feature.

I personally would stick with the 800D, way better looking case, inside and out.

The cheapest way to do it would probably be to get a kit (get one with a decent pump) for about $250-300. To this you would need to add a couple of GPU blocks (c.$200), another radiator with fans (c.$100) and a few extra fittings ($20-30ish)

CPU Water Block ($49.99)

GPU Water Block ($99.95 x 2)

Big Radiator ($59.95)

Small Radiator ($49.95)

Pump ($89.95)

Reservoir ($24.95)

Fittings ($3.99 x 14)

Tubing ($1.25 x 10)

Total: $543.05 + shipping

Fits into the budget before fans get involved.

He'd still have to add roughly another 80-100 for fans on top of that. It is tough to get this down under the 600 dollar mark for everything (while still using good components)
