Major graphics card issue

Thread Starter
My gtx 580 has been crashing and running really slow lately. I have tried almost everything i know but didnt work. Basicly I'm using my phone to type this because my pc is really slow now. Playing on fallout 3 for about 1-3 hours, it will start to slow down and lag like crazy. Then the whole game will crash, soon driver will crash and the pc will run really slow whether its just watching a youtube video or doing something else. I woulden't mind buying another card because i was thinking of getting a gtx 670 but just worried if the problem remains and its not the graphics card that is the issue. Hoping some one could help me out here bad because i dont to have to reset everything.

Specs:
Gtx 580
Intel i7 950
12g ram
Rampage lll formula
1000W

P.s its not allowing me to open heaven benchmark too with some error and its causing errors for some of my programs such as msi afterburner.

Thanks

Have you checked temps to see if it could be overheating? Is the fan turning like it should be?

Yup, checked all those too. Even put the fan speed to 100% to make sure, took out the case to check if its all working. All seems to be working properly.

How about a clean install of new drivers?

download seatools (http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/201271en) for your hdd
download memtest86+(http://www.memtest86.com/download.html) for your ram
download malwarebytes anti-malware (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) and do a full scan for viruses

see how you go with that
