will xbox 720 really be as powerful as they say?

i wasnt able to find anyone asking about this online but..

in the specifications leak, ive heard things such as 16 core processor, with games utilizing all 16 cores, and a graphics card comparable to highest end 7000 series gpus... all for under $299 apparently

will this put pc gaming to an end?

What where did you here that garbage? I know the PS4 will have an a8-3850 cpu and xfired with a 7670 (don't ask me why that gpu) so probably the xbox will something arround that. No games utilise 16 cores at once except if they're each as strong as some citrix 1-core cpu...

Sure it will....

No. The PC-s will always be ahead of consoles. Unless they start making upgrades to consoles, thus converting them into PC-s.

Companies still have to make money. There is no way ^ will give them much, if any, gain. Can you imagine somebody selling a PC with those specs sans an OS for $300?

The most realistic specs I've heard were quad core and a higher end Nvidia GPU.

well, i checked the info on like 5-6 websites before posting this thread, personally i thought it was ridiculous

just google xbox 720 16 core, or xbox 720 radeon 7000 series

and ps4 would xfire a8 3850 with 7670 because AMD apus can only xfire with up to hd x670 strength cards, such as 5670, 6670 or 7670, or of course anything lower like an hd 6570 or 6450. but it cant xfire with anything higher (although i didnt know a8 3850 can xfire with the new generation hd 7xxx series gpus, maybe driver updates). or maybe a new (codename trinity i believe its called?) apu will come out and that will be in the ps4

but yes, the 16 core 720/ high end hd 7000 series came out in like a 56 page leak or something detailing the entire xbox 720 plans... it could be a hoax but who would spend time making a 56 page bs xbox 720 specification manual

unless xbox leaked it purposefully, i already heard something like the lawyers from xbox commanded websites to take it off the website. what im thinking is maybe they made a fake leak to promote the xbox 720 as some super beast for advertising

and i have no idea how it would be $300 either, but apparently theyre for real

they even said something such as there will be a new kinect that senses motion even on your fingertips that utilizes 4 cores alone out of the 16 core cpu xbox will have. and apparently its going to have more cpus in there for backwards compatibility too.

i guess its just a load of bull because i mean anythings possible, but designing something like that for so little money as a cost seems unlikely to me

There is no way in hell it will be under $299. The original PS3 when it came out was around $1000.00. So I'd say it will be priced at around $1300 or more.

true... i mean $300 is like what xbox 360 is worth atm for the slim 250gb version
post #10 of 57
Yes that is what it is worth about 6 years after the Xbox 360 was released thumb.gif
