IPS for MMOs? - Page 2

So I just got my monitor today and the color difference between this and what I had is awesome!

Although I'm having some calibration issues. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good website or a certain way to calibrate an IPS or a monitor in general?

A proper calibration is done using hardware tools (Such the Sypder PRO).
Typically, if a monitor has become widely-used someone will share their calibration setting with an ICC profile. TFTcentral has a ICC database for the products they have reviewed. Unfortunately I can't see ASUS VS239H yet on the list.

Perhaps Windows inbuilt calibration tools can be a bit help (search "calibrate" on your start menu).
Alternatively you could visit Lagoom LCD test to adjust and see your calibration result, that site has a lot of clear explanation on what your monitor should look like after calibrated.

Just my $.02, hope that helps smile.gif

You know for having it on the scenery setting and turning the brightness to around 70% it looks pretty damn good, and looks calibrated fine according to that website.

Go with an IPS monitor. I have bought myself 3 Dell Ultrasharp 2312 monitors. Even at 8ms responds time, you will barely notice any lag. These IPS monitors from Dell are splendid and you can be looking at it from an angle to where you are almost looking at it from the side and the picture will remain the same as if you were staring right in front of it. No dimming, no brightening, no color wash at all until your eyes are parallel to the monitors bezels at either the sides or from the top/bottom. You can even go landscape and portrait mode. The screen has a matte coating and you will not get much glare and watching movies is like candy to your eyes. Here is the monitor

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2312HM-IPS-Monitor/dp/B005LN1JEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344681180&sr=8-1&keywords=dell+u+2312

I give it a 9/10. Had them for 8 months now and the only thing I felt it lacked was a smaller responds time and hdmi ports.
