Recommend me a laptop based on my needs - Page 2

Ah. At this point in time, I've almost completely taken Clevo/Sager out of the picture. They're not bad...I just have very specific needs. I've found 2 laptops with those very needs. Both of which have...

  • Backlit keyboards
  • Switchable Graphics
  • Core i7 Ivy Bridge
  • Good resolution for their screen sizes
  • Mini Display Port
  • 8GB RAM

 

At this point in time, I don't have enough to buy either of the two laptops so if any are to show up, with these same desired specs (display port can substitute mini display port) for less, I'd be likely to jump on those.

 

My current choices are the Alienware m14x R2  and the ASUS G55VW and I probably won't be making a purchase until later this month.

Lol....changed my mind..for the time being. Looking at Sager NP9130. I dislike the fact that it doesn't have a backlit keyboard but as I think about it, I don't really need it, at all. It'd still be nice to have. 

 

I don't want the Alienware anymore. 1600x900 isn't enough for me. Still looking for alternatives though.

the lenovo thinkpad w530 is a great choice. by far the most reliable out of anything mentioned here. great price and meets all of your needs when custom built. are you a student? lenovo does great student discounts

1200 with student discount (for all that I wanted). About 1400 without discount. The Sager NP9130 still seems like a better option though. :/

never heard of sager laptops. all i know is that lenovo's break the least and at the end of the day i don't care how powerful your machine is; if it's broken who cares?

whaaaat you want a laptop with a displayport so you can use an adapter to convert it to hdmi the lenovo has hdmi
