Need help choosing a RAID card

Thread Starter
im finely expanding my storage in my server finally and am looking at getting a dedicated card for raid. i was thinking on just going with the dell perc 5i card because it is well documented but i also found a "HP Smart Array P400/512MB " on ebay for cheep and was wondering if any one had experience with them. all i would need for it to go is a larger bracket and the sas-> sata cables.
