Don't be whiney d-bags and support the dev if you want better ports next time. Hell we are lucky the "souls" franchise is even in NA, the first one was published by Atlus because nobody wanted to take a chance on it here, but now Namco is all over it because of atlus' success.
Forget about graphics and Mouse/Keyboards, get it play it on a controller and enjoy being challenged for a change.
Now if we could get some people playing Monster Hunters we could get another really challenging well built game back over here.

Need a controller??

They said the same thing about Assassin's Creed, Batman AA/AC, all the GTA's, Prince of Persia et al, You get the idea.

KB&M is my preferred method in ALL OF THEM. So speak for yourself partner. As for "it's not going to happen"; all the keys are remappable per the the instruction manual.

2560x1400 if you you remove the resize part in the links. wink.gif
But the screenshots appear to be upscaled.

The lack of resolution change makes the locked 30FPS problem look like a mere footnote.
The game is broken, pure and simple. That is why we're complaining. That is why we will not buy it or support it.

That's fine don't support it and keep getting games that fail to challenge at the expense of graphics. It's a trade off either way but going for graphics over gameplay is far more detrimental to gaming than gameplay over graphics.
I think what people are overlooking is this was a last second leap of faith for them, and there was no planning there was no budget it was all done pretty much on a whim. Everyone is acting like it was a PC exclusive that got dumbed down for a console port.

+1

I agree.

It's all about the gameplay. That's why I still play Darklands!!!! (bad example on the business end, but you get my point)

FromSoftware doesn't owe you anything, You can go ahead and voice your opinions about how you think you deserve more, I'm not trying to stop you, I'm just letting you know don't deserve more.
Like I said, this is about as sad as the Mass Effect 3 ending controversy. People felt like they were entitled to a better ending than what they got, when really they weren't. But of course, when people don't like something, they go to their little forums to start complaining and crying about how they didn't get what they want, like a baby. You know what happens when a baby doesn't get what it wants? It takes what it wants. For all of the people here saying they won't buy or play the game, come August 24th, I guarantee you half of those people will still pirate it.

Irony alert!

If you're this upset about people voicing their opinions on a public forum, then I think the internet is not for you, my friend. At the end of the day, each individual customer is the only person who gets to determine what s/he is entitled to. If I feel like I'm entitled to a PC game that isn't a slapdash console port, then I'll pick up a copy of The Witcher 2 (for ex.) instead of Dark Souls. While you're foaming at the mouth about all the things PC gamers don't deserve, the majority of us are spending our money for games that haven't been needlessly neutered for no apparent reason (30 FPS lock?? How can you possibly defend that??). In closing, if you enjoy the game, good on you -- you're a customer who knows what he deserves and by God, it isn't anything close to what your PC is capable of! What I deserve, however, is determined solely by the direction that my cash money flows, and it ain't flowing towards From Software this time around. wave2.gif

This is just plain shameful.1080p resolution availible as an option is one of the most basic standards in modern PC games, even the worst console ports I ever saw allowed it.After hearing this,I have no intention of buying the game, unless if a group of modders(or devs themselves) release a future fix that lets the game run in a proper 1080p resolution. And even if that happens, the game is not worthy more than $5.

What's the point of this port anyway?
To me,it feels like a total waste of resources, and a possible source of a few "buh buh piracy" statements if it recieves abysmal sales(which is highly possible)...
If From Software cannot come up with a decent port themselves,or cannot outsorce it to someone else more experienced with PC architecture, why bother at all?
I would respect them much more if they simply came clean with us,and said "This game's engine is build for consoles from ground up,proper porting and necessary adjustments to make it work on the PC would be lengthy, and expensive, ultimately not worth it for us as a developer".

Say whatever you want,From Software handled this whole situation in a very incompetent manner.I knew this was never going to be a stellar port, and that's fine.In situations like this,I can handle 30 FPS,I can handle the need for a controller,I can even handle GFWL,but this resolution crap, sorry, that's going too far.As I said, customizable resolutions are one of the most basic standards of PC gaming, and this is inexcusable redface.gif

So many excuses being thrown out, if other PC games can offer the expected amount of visual quality and customization while being good, so can Dark Souls. No buy, won't promote this sloppy behavior. Time to actually stick to a standard for PC games.

The game wasn't ported, just console-focused.
No offense, but this seems like a completely unsubstantiated claim...
Can you prove it is a general rule in the gaming industry?

Also, can you explain why are we pairing a bunch of consoles together(PS3,360,and occasionally Wii+handhelds),and pitting them against the PC on its own, instead of doing more balanced comparisons like 360 vs PC,for example?

PC is a very healthy gaming platform, experiencing a lot of growth, and has a lot of developer support. This place is overly pessimistic about its state, there is no sense of optimism, not even a little of that healthy fanboyism to keep the spirits up tongue.gif

I mean, lots of us here invested a lot of money in our PC rigs, only to complain how PC gaming doesn't bring profits,or whatever.I said this many times, and I'll say it again:
Why would ANYONE bother developing for a platform that brings nothing but losses(or minimal, insignifficant profits)?

So,while OCN cries about false threats like piracy, and blows them out of proportion,I'll be trying to tame my huge backlog of great PC games, that are waiting to be played, while enjoying my time doing it smile.gif
