There's also no reason to lock to 30fps unless they did some horrible coding that depended on frames being 0.0333 milliseconds long as opposed to just using a time delta from frame-to-frame.
You'll often see me stand up against people claiming everything is a console port. For example, Crysis 2 and Skyrim were NOT console ports. However, this game sounds like it is, the engine or architecture being used in the game has not been adapted well for PC. It sounds like the bare minimum was done to get this to run on PC, and that's it.
Pathetic.

Crysis 2 and Skyrim are console ports

If you are serious, there's a link about console ports in my sig that might be worth reading. I can assure you, they are not. Long story short, console porting usually involves taking a console-only game and tweaking the code or creating a wrapper to get it to at least run on a PC, neither Crysis 2 nor Skyrim had this process since they run on multi-platform engines.

3000FPS?!? tongue.gif (just kidding, I know what you mean)

Ack. Fixed, thanks for pointing that out. tongue.gif

On the contrary I disagree! If you played the PC version of skyrim the game was a port with the entire GUI interface and controls.Even the developer admitted that it was a port. It only got better after the community cleaned up the mess

Anyway they expect Aussie gamers to pay 70 bucks for this? Ha! Yeah...no thanks!

There is nothing to disagree about. The game wasn't a console port. I think what you mean to say is that the developers didn't spend enough time prepping and priming the PC version to your liking and sense of exclusivity. The reality is, the marketshare on PC is just smaller, and the developers get nothing out of making the PC version more "special" because at the end of the day, it'll maybe result in marginally more sales for more money spent, and the same amount of whining heard.

They had no intention of bringing it to the PC during it's inception. They didn't have the budget to port it over and possibly didn't/don't have the right experts available to put it on the PC. The fans asked for a PC port, via the usual petition online that never amounts to anything...usually. So surprise! We get what was requested! They....did exactly what we requested...a port to the pc. -.- Just not like a usual pc game that we are accustomed to. If I can play with friends who have the ps3 or 360 version of the game, and it's not laggy or any different of a gameplay experience than on the console, then I'll buy a copy. I have a friend or two that shy away from pc's but love to play some multiplayer stuff with me now and then.

Played Demon's Souls for 200+ hours, and I still think Dark Souls is better.

I'm not saying you should buy the game if it isn't what you're looking for. I'm saying that you (along with the majority of the people here) should recognize this game for what it is, a bare bones port meant to bring a console experience to a limited number of PC users. That's all it's ever been, but a lot of people had unrealistic expectations and expected something more, when they shouldn't have.

You don't like the sound of that? Then this game probably isn't meant for you. Not every game has to appeal to every person's interests, nor should it try to. Complaining about the lack of PC enhancements in this port is like complaining about the lack of a PVE-only server in a game like Darkfall Online, or complaining about how the Grand Theft Auto games are too violent and that they should be less obscene. It's similar to that pathetic Mass Effect 3 ending controversy, where people felt like they were entitled to a better ending than what they got, when really they weren't.

Sitting in some forum and complaining about how the game doesn't have all of the things you think it should does make you look entitled, however.

In an interview with CVG, Bethesda’s Craig Lafferty said that Skyrim has been developed with consoles as the lead target.

The lead producer on Skyrim said: “We use the consoles as our lead SKU… So we develop towards the consoles and then porting to PC is usually not too bad actually .”

http://www.gamersmint.com/bethesda-consoles-to-be-the-lead-platform-for-skyrim-aim-to-make-it-really-accessible

But enough about skyrim...I wish this practice of porting games across platforms would end. The end consumer can never get their monies' worth especially those who buy their games during Day 1 release....This seems like an elaborate troll attempt on PC gamers...

I will purchase this game more in hopes that revenue generated wont alienate us elitest again. If we can vote that we enjoy that game they will spend more time on the next installment.

Im just glad I no longer have to purchase a ps3 in order to play this game, though I would've preferred demon souls, but hey beggars cant be choosers!

what I don't understand is why didn't they simply outsource the development of a PC edition if they couldn't do it themselves?

The game was 40 dollars at one stage when it was on pre-order but they changed it at the end of last month. Not the first time this has happened here.

I wonder if it has to do with their engine.

Like how since the modern cod engine is based off of the id tech 3 engine the physics and stuff get screwed up at high fps. Like you can jump higher and shoot faster etc with higher fps.
