My question is which of the two CPU's is better. For overall performance, but gaming is the most important factor.

The i5. Doesn't need to be an Ivy i5 either.

Do you guys answer like that just because you like Intel more,or just because it's actually the better one? I'm asking because i just saw this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=devZ8jETRJo&feature=related and it's really impressive how the FX-8150 performs

I5 Sandy or Ivy.
Not because I just like Intel and dont like AMD (my sig rig will tell you that) but because with the I5 there is a higher min FPS in games and better performance.
The I5s hands down beats all bulldozer CPUs.

That is AMD's marketing video, you would be better off with ivy or sandy, they will be better in games.

It isn't even a contest. The i5 wins every time, in every game. Some games the two may tie because of gpu bottleneck, but the bulldozer will never outperorm the i5 when it comes to gaming.

Look at this review. It shows a ton of different games.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7970_CPU_Scaling/16.html

And that only has SB not IB. Notice how the SB beats or ties with bulldozer depending on the game and whether it is gpu bottlenecked or not, but the SB never loses in any game although the bulldozer loses quite of few games by a fairly large margin.

I've had an Athlon XP 1800+ then an Athlon XP 2500+ then an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ then a Phenom X3 7850 then a Phenom II X3 720BE then a Phenom II X6 1055t (still have the 1055t and CIVF in my basement on a shelf).....

Other then ones I've owned, For others I've built systems with: multiple Athlon X4's, Semprons, and others.

I've basically had every iteration of AMD chip prior to BD, I just got this SB chip 4 months ago, and it is also in fact the first Intel chip I've ever bought for myself.

SO

Am I biased? I'd think that I'm not.

With that I'll restate; the i5 is better.

(also feel free to look through my previous systems in my profile to know I'm telling the truth)

If gaming is your priority, then definitely the i5.

If you have heavily threaded applications that can utilize all 8 cores on that AMD chip, then go for that. But most games have yet to even fully utilize quad-cores efficiently, so the i5 is still the best bang for buck out there.

Previous build before my i5-2500K was a Phenom II X4 955 BE

When BD first came out I was thinking about upgrading from my i7 950 to the 8150. So my friend let me borrow his amd 8150 PC for a couple of days. with everything in the PC being the same other than the CPU and mobo, I was getting about 5 FPS more on the intel setup than I was on AMD. Now that isn't going to happen in every game, but the more popular titles seem to favor intel to include skyrim and BF3.
