[MacRumors] Next-Generation iPhone Components Compared to Previous Models

Following up on a fresh leak of claimed next-generation iPhone parts, Nowhereelse.fr now shares [Google translation] new photos from the same source that provide an interesting comparison between several of the new components and their predecessors found in the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.

As shown in the top row, Apple appears to be returning to the rotational electric motor design for the vibrator that was used in the GSM iPhone 4 and earlier devices. In the CDMA iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S, Apple has been using a larger drum-shaped linear oscillating vibrator that gives a softer feel and sound.

The only user noticeable change seems to be the vibration motor. I didn't even realize it was different between my 3GS and 4S...

In before thread derails into general Apple hate.

I added an extra article about the new SIM card style Apple is supposedly using.

I just hope it doesn't turn into one of those like it always does on this site.

Vibration intensity does seem to have fallen off recently; the last few phones I've owned including my current Galaxy Nexus...just don't vibrate hard enough.

I was playing with my old Droid 1 a few weeks ago; and that thing can knock itself off of a table it vibrates so hard.

Kind of a sleeper feature, but good to know that Apple took note.

That's what she said biggrin.gif

Anyway. I remember Apple trying to patent the new SIM card and force the entire induistry to use it.

That's not quite what happened.

Apple set up another company and employed people through that, who then tried to get onto the board of people who choose SIM standards. Through that, they tried to use their own employees to change the standard. At least, as far as I remember.

Nice to see the vibration unit being made smaller to pave the way for more/bigger components. I'd love to see the CNC files for the inside of this thing.

I don't think so. They offered to license it for free if it's accepted as the new standard.

Just with a catch which is you can't sue them for anything.

I'd take these parts pictures with a grain of salt. Especially pictures of supposedly fully assembled iPhone 5's. It's all very un-Apple (i.e. unbalanced)
