Enable AHCI, you can do this by reinstalling windows or registry changes(google search it).

Cause you are not using the crappy Marvell SATA 6Gb/s port on your motherboard.

Leave it as is imo, the Marvell controller on the X58 platform is trash.

That will also add to boot time, add latency, and if you don't get a PCIe 4x card you are going to still be limited on bandwidth. Oh and you need to see if the card supports TRIM or not as well. Besides, there is not a noticeable difference b/w SATA 2 and SATA 3 in most real world use.
