Having Loads of Loop Design Troubles

Hardware
CPU – Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge
GPU – ASUS GTX680-DC2T
PSU – SeaSonic Platinum Platinum - 1000
Case – NZXT SWITCH 810 Matte Black
Motherboard – Maximus V FORMULA
RAM – G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB)
SDD – Plextor M3 Pro Series 256
HDD – Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB

Cooling
Reservoirs – EK-Multioption RES X2 - 250 Advanced, EK-BAY SPIN Reservoir - Acetal CSQ
Pumps – 2x PMP-450 Pump, ID 13mm (1/2in)
Pump Tops – 2x EK-D5 X-TOP CSQ – Acetal
CPU Block – EK-Supremacy - Full Nickel Probably will switch it out still debating if I like the new design headscratch.gif am hoping though that a "better" design will be implemented though by the time this build gets put together (stupid circles)
GPU Block – EK-FC680 GTX DCII – Acetal+Nickel
Rads – Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 420mm, Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 280mm
Tubing – Durelene PVC tubing 3/8in. ID 5/8in. OD
Fluids – Mayhems Pastel Red, Mayhems Red Dye, and Mayhems Blue Dye
Fans – Don't know yet

I did make a mock up of the rig in paint.net as a reference since a pictures tells a thousand words lol and it inlcudes all of the possible fittings that i can have set up. (may be a bit hard to see them at some spots)

1. Here goes 1st ques would this loop order work out any? bay res>pumps in serial>res tube>280 rad>gpu>cpu>vram>480 rad> i dont think it will work out (maybe with older less heat producing parts but not these one.) I know at some point the loop will reach a equilibrium and all and that it is moving pretty fast as well. The main thing I want to know is how to configure my tubing that will make the sleekest design possible and run tubing through the top panel like how mbo did in his Sponsored Mass Effect Build (I'm liberality scratching my head headscratch.gif lol trying to figure a route that will go from bay res>pump>tube res>cpu>vram>480 rad>gpu>180 rad> bay res but will utilize tubing going underneath the top bezel, help!!!! Also will one litter of coolant be fine with 535mm of coolant will be used to just fill the two reservoirs and am hoping the remaining amount will be enough for all of the rest of the components.

2. In the hardrive cage that will now become a pump station, is it still possible to have a hard drive in there lets say above the pumps and their ek pump tops? I know there are bay resorvoirs that incorprate dual pumps on it lk the RP-452X2 Dual 5.25in Reservoir for 1-2 PMP-450/S Pumps, Rev.2.0 but this config is 34 bucks cheaper biggrin.gif

3. I have not yet decided what fans I want. Either NZXT FZ-140mm or maybe some Akase AK-FN063 which I can't seem to find any type of test to verify Akase claims on the specs. Since the Nexxos rad works great in all ares of rpms it really broadins the choice of fans. Silent is key here no noisy fans. thumb.gif How would white leds look on a red spinng fan? Also since I want to keep the cost down as low as possible and the MVF has 8 4 pin fan ports I want to use that instead of a $30 fan controller. Do the D5's need a fan blowing on them to stay cool, since there is the option of having the fan blow into the pump station i'tt be easy but the prob is I have the 2 pumps with a rpm reader on it that needs to be plugged into the mobo as well so if I have 5 fans only pulling air from the rads (have read they perform best this way with only one fan) and there are 2 case fans (one rear of the case and the other at the pump station) plus the 2 pumps that means I need 9 fan ports mad.gif short one port

4. Last question is what will it take to make that 480 rad fit in the top of the switch 810 case?
first why two res? if it was just bay reservoir then that should be easy enough to deal with.

it would go Res>Pumps>280rad>GPU>480Rad>CPU>Res.

If you can get cross flow rads then that would eliminate tubes showing making it more cleaner looking.

2 res in the loop wouldnt work at all as it will loose all its pressure the moment you enter the tube res unless you make it so that the tube res is 100% filled with coolant.. and for me that is just one dissaster waiting to happen.. or put the each pump right after each res but that would be just useless.

A) Loop order is irrelevant so long as res is before pump....which why are you using two reservoirs? Adds cost and complexity.

B) You're going overkill on the amount of rad area for the amount of heat you have to sink

C) Since you're budget minded, you really do not need two pumps in serial in single-CPU/single-GPU unless you using a VERY restrictive CPU block....which the EK Supremacy is not.

I know 2 res arn't needed at all just doing it for the bling really and i thought it looked a bit empty inside the case was my thinking

I should of noted before that I plan to do sli in the future so that's the reason for two rads plus a little overkill never hurt anything biggrin.gif

I am budget minded but not so much as skimping by, I still want the best things but only if it is worth the $$$. just thought two pumps for the redundancy and a bit more head pressure would be worth it

I was having many problems trying to figure out how to set this loop up because of the two reservoirs 2 rads and routing the tubing through the top panel so I know it's becoming a complex loop

after listening what what was suggested I came up with this loop design what do y'all think

If possible I would lk to keep the tube res but if it can't work out that way then wink.gif I'll forget the tube and save 30 bucks lol

The block should ship with the FC link thingy, that put the ports out to the side, so 90* fittings would be needed to go up/down.

o ok my bad, one other thing be careful with the 420 rad up top, i ended up using a 360 as the fan at the back of the case was blocking the barb fittings.
I say skip the bay res and use the EK reservoir (Multioption) only, it's a better res and having two is counterproductive. Also, it will require some significant modding to fit a 280 rad in the bottom, so stick with a 240. A 420 rad + 240 rad will be more than enough for your loop, even if you go SLI in the future.

skip the tube reservoir, only way that would work is filling the whole tube with coolant, putting pressure on those tube reservoir is kinda iffy to me.. stick with the bay reservoir you can always make it look blingy with chrome fittings by bitspower.. they look sexy under the right lighting effect.

ok quick question if i go only with the tube res how do you fill it without it overflowing, I guess carefully and slowly huh. Filling the bay res is pretty straight forward. So do you think the amount of pressure that will require to push the coolant through the tube res will be to great for it to handle. Thais the last thing I would want to happen is blow the res up lol plus I've heard round a bit that ek acetyl is prown to cracking. I would think it would be the other way around with difficulty on getting the rads mounted the 480 being tougher
