If I get the 3930 wouldn't it be a lot more future proof? Same with being on the x79 platform more future proof. After this build I don't want to have to build another computer for a long time, at least a few years 4 + if possible. I looked at the cases the switch 810 looks really nice I'm going to use it.
Updated Build:
Case: NZXT switch 810 not sure white or black probably matte black
PSU: Seasonic Platinum 860w
RAM: 16GB 2x8GB Corsair 1600hz
GPU: EVGA gtx 680 w/ backplate
CPU: 3930 or 3770k
Motherboard: Sabertooth x79 or Sabertooth z77
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 128GB
Disk Bay: LG CH12LS28
Hard Drive: Western Digital 1T black 7200rpm
Monitor: Crossover 27Q LED-P
Fans: 2x Corsair air series SP120 quiet edition
2x Corsair air series AF140 quiet edition
LEDs: NZXT LED Sleeve Kit Orange or White
Also on this website for your computer can you also ask about mice, keyboards and headsets?
Still no-one has answered about a good sound card frown.gif
I would still recommend the 3770k because new tech is right around the corner so no one is future proof right now. Though I would suspect a 3930k to last a while before you need to upgrade, it just may not be that much longer then the 3770k and may not justify the extra cash to jump to x79.

I would stick to the 670 FTW edition from EVGA, they are really great cards and I doubt you will notice a difference in performance between the two.

As for keyboard, mouse, and headphones...

http://www.overclock.net/t/1014902/most-commonly-recommended-audio-products - for headphones. Great source, and I am actually about to be getting a pair of Ultrasone 750s todays thanks to that thread. They also have a whole review on sound cards as well so that should help you there too. Asus Xonar DX is my guess in what you will probably end up getting, unless you want a super high end card.

As for the keyboard, I own a Das Keyboard Ultimate. Love this mech keyboard, and love how it is all blacked out. Ducky keyboards are great too and a lot of OCN members use them.

The mouse is kind of a personal choice since everyone's hands like different feels. I own a Mionix 5000 and love it, fits me perfectly. Weighted, has a pinky rest, and just enough buttons to keep me happy. If you are an MMO fan you may want to look into a mouse with more macro buttons. The G500 is a great mouse, so is anything from the sensei steel series . Lots of options here, do some research into what you will be using this mouse for mainly and then you should have a good idea of what you will want in the mouse be it high dpi, adjustable on the fly dpi, macros, or simplicity.

Also, if anyone suggests going to 4x4 ram sticks don't do it. Never do 4x4 unless you are just adding onto an existing set.

Yes, The_chemist21 I think the cosmos two is a great case but I just don't think that I want to spend $370 on a case when the saving going to the switch is almost enough alone to get me the sound card (Asus xonar stx).

Sorry that I never mentioned my limit, depending on what is happening with my pay. Either $2500 max excluding, Monitor, mouse, keyboard, headset. or $3500. But now that I have had all this information I don't think I would spend that much. Not straight away at least, if I want the second gpu I will get it later. Going from 3770k to 3930 will cost me an extra $335 or so aud (including motherboard change).

With the Asus cu II gtx 670 it has a 10 phase while the evga ftw has an 8 phase i think it is a pwm what does that mean and do? I looked at the asust stx and the phoebus, Similar and $20 difference do you know if the stx has the same problems with punkbuster?

I really want the nzxt white sleeved cable led, but I have used static ice and and there is only one place that does it in 2m and they are out of stock frown.gif.

I usually play MOBAs, RTSs, FPSs and RPGs so for a mouse I want a few macro buttons but not like an MMO or MMORPG mouse, I want good accuracy and fairly speedy dpi, the steel series sensei looks good, or the corsair m60. I have never owned a clicky mechanical keyboard like that, I don't know if I would like it.

EDIT: I have calculated all of the costs and I am fairly certain of what I am buying. If my pay works out and my max is $3500 I will get the x79 platform because I would be about $200-300 over $2500 depending on postage costs. And if it does not work out then I will go with the z77 and be just near the $2500 mark.

As this thread has not had a lot of love for awhile I am bumping it to get my last few questions asked. I also have some new ones.

1. Is the Asus gtx 670 better because it has a 10 phase pwm while the evga has an 8 phase?
2. what does a pwm phase mean? , I think it is electrical.
3. If I water cooled my gpu would I get a cheaper gtx than the evga FTW or would I stick with that?

I checked out watercooling parts and is this a good combo/ will they be compatible with all my parts. (if I get these I will loose the h100).
