FYI my current card is simply a placeholder until GTX780 releases, my GTX580 got bricked and a 660 Ti is identical in performance so I grabbed one on a good deal. Should also be easy to sell off.
You never mentioned upgrading your GPU so there was no way to know but yes it's pretty obvious that if you keep upgrading to the fastest GPU's you're going to be held back eventually. The 660ti isn't identical either, it does come close though.

The 7000 series is great, just because you're having problems doesn't mean everyone else is, my HD7870 is perfect.

Sounds like there is an actual problem with the card for which you should RMA it. That's not normal at all.

TBH anything short of 10% increase would be a serious dissapointment. Less than 15% would be a dissapointment.
Why? Because Haswell is on Intel's "tick" phase, where we should see the biggest performance increase. They have the die shrink with Ivy, now the new micro-architecture should show what they can do with 22nm technology. We should be hoping for a more Bloomfield to Sandy Bridge jump, rather than a Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge style jump Likewise, for those saying they will wait for Skylake, while it will probably have DD4 support among other things, you should only expect a 5%--7% performance increase over Haswell, since Skylake will be a "tock". Tocks, along with die shrinks, also seem to be when Intel likes to incorperate new features, IMO, probably to get people to look the other way at the minimal performance increase.
You have your ticks and tocks mixed up. Haswell is a tock, Broadwell is its tick, Skylake is the following tock, then Skymont is another tick.

I am praying intel continue this trend of better integrated graphics I mean Nvidia need some kind of competition since AMD is going down the drain.

I hope the following:

10% increase from IB, as this happens, 15-20 (17,5% aprox) increase from SB but with more OC capability than SB, resulting on a 30-35% increase biggrin.gif

Could I drop back to a dual core for haswell? I don't do much gaming. Maybe once a month now I play, but I do have an encrypted hard drive.

No real point these days. The quad cores are not that much more power hungry (77W vs 55W), a number which quickly falls to little or nothing during idle states with the aid of power gating. Also the price difference is so little these days.

That said, if you are interested in having a very quite system that takes up as little volume as possible it may be worth considering one of the low voltage dual cores. Standard voltage dual cores just don't make too much sense for the desktop anymore.

Hmm I want to upgrade some time later next year but I don't want to get stuck with a new mobo right before DDR4 comes comes out. I usually don't upgrade processors that often.
