Ivy actually produces less heat than SB and your first gen i7. So it wouldn't heat up your room as much, even when it is 90C. Heat is not Temperature. They are two different things.

It is very unlikely an Ivy Bridge chip @ 90C would heat up anything as many people have reported their heatsinks to be much cooler to the touch even while running their chips @ 80-90C than SB.

True that, I'm playing through Bioshock 2 on my 3570K while I wait for my gpu to come. I'm playing on medium settings, but still hitting 60 fps most of the time. I was pleasantly surprised.

was the h4000 driver released no long ago?they hadnt released the official integrated gpu driver at lunch!since this was supposed to raise the bar by a good bit!
intel always had lot of trouble on the gpu front,but supposedly intel is dedicated this time around to find their issue and become fast we ll see.amd is still there but their lack of fund is gona be a factor.
nvidia could have had some issue ,but nexus 7 are selling out so well that nvidia just need to update nexus 7 gpu driver to be able to really push their gpu technology!i dont think power is an issue on the gpu front these days,bufferbloat is a big factor ,espacially for those streaming like towelliee.so the one that find ways to fix this will probably gain a huge lead .ya a lot of stuff dont interact well together,various program all want to be number one in the priority chain with the result we see today,streamer with a 690 barelly pushing 40 fps in lot of game!ya driver on all fron will need to be polished and probably call ms to also adress these issues!

I looked at the source article and they have absolutely no proof to back up their claims.

They're only deducing Haswell's performance gain by subtracting Sandy Bridge from Nehalem(20%) and then to SNB to IVB(10%). Logical fallacy.

Haswell will introduce a new AVX extension, improved cache/memory latency, and a new architecture.

Of course its unrealistic to make any concrete predictions about haswell's performance at this point. All anybody can do at this point is guess. I'm still thinking that my 3960X will carry me a long way...

even if processor speed stayed the same it wont be an issue if they can make graphic 3x better!and it looks like intel is adressing streamer concern!if i am right!this part could hurt the other gpu maker more then the speed alone,imagine a towelliee at 85 fps while streaming versus athene (exemple)using nvidia only could do 55 fps.try telling the user that nvidia is a better gpu lol!even if intel gpu was inferior gpu it would still win because it would deliver faster fps in stream (yep silly but would still be a win for intel)we ll see how these event pan out!isnt the extreme serie the next processor that will be lunched by intel?

Mainstream haswell on lga1150 is still 4 cores max. They're focusing on the igp, intel doesn't need to have more cores on its mainstream CPUs at this point.
