Yup! Sorry for the confusion - I mixed up Haswell-E with Haswell-EP, doh. I dream of the day where that's more feasible and Xeons will again be significantly overclockable...
They're similar and their socket presumably will be compatible (but not with the current SB/IB-E?).

Actually according to Cantor's group set theory (which all multiplication is based on) 3 x 0 = 3 and 0 x 3 = 0 Yes yes you can google all sorts of people that don't understand math and even wolfrum alpha will say 3 x 0 = 0 I assure you sir, In the next 20 years you will find out 3 x 0 = 3 3/0 = 3 and 0 x 3 = 0... It would take too long to explain it to you here but Myself and a few mathematicians have been working on this for years.


Also its going to make people in the physics department really happy or really mad depending on how you look at it. The problem with mathematics is that 0 represents at least 5 different things and the axioms are always changing. The problem with that is simple. Sometimes zero is a number and sometimes its not. Axioms change, the representation of the number changes and it causes a total breakdown in the system mathematics has been married to for many years.


FYI cantor died in an insane asylum as did many other mathematicians that we base most modern mathematics on. I will end with this. 3 x 3 is directly translated the number 3 in 3 groups. 3 x 0 is the number 3 in 0 groups. If you start with 3 and put it into 0 groups.. you still have 3.

mainstream haswell is still 4 cores maximum. IB-E should have an 8-core enthusiast part seeing that the die is a native 10-core.

A hopeful 10% more IPC than Ivy with more max overclock speed than Sandy would be nice. Keep your fingers crossed that they don't gimp the thermal conductivity to the IHS this time too. Of course a performance mainstream 6-core would do as well but I imagine that one won't happen.

Intel has two, not so free attempts at the IGP vs AMD, before it starts worrying about AMD Catching Up in the CPU performance. If we go on facts alone, then i would put my money on AMD catching/surpassing Intel in CPU (Been done before with Athlon FX) and IGPU (Already ahead) than Intel passing AMD in IGP/GPU (Never done before).

I think AMD is in the better position and in these two years, Intel better be ready for some serious competition from AMD. I have always said, once we get to 22nm and smaller, performance gains will drop of the cliff and we are already seeing this happen (Money will not matter as much as now). Haswell will confirm this further as Sandy-Bridge has already confirmed this for us. Its going to be about improvising with less (The Nanometer race will slow down drastically), this is where AMD has the upper hand, AMD has already shown us 32nm to 32nm performance (10%-15%) gains whereas Intel could not achieve the same gains going from 32nm to 22nm (1%-5% gains).

It's not so much about the nanometers but the architecture. Intel goes tick tock so they can test out die shrinks before doing a whole new architecture. AMD are far more careless. One more slip and they're out of the race, probably.
