Corsair Force GS 480GB 4K write speed slow?

Hey guys,

I’ve got this drive and have noticed that using the AS SSD the 4K write speed seems slower than other people with this card in forums and also on the reviews here and here. The other values seem to be fine or in line with other results...

My results are: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

System is:
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77 UD5H
Interface: SSD connected to Intel series 7 SATA 3 6GB/S interface
OS: Windows 7 64 Ultimate installed on the SSD
CPU: i7 3770K
RAM: 16GB Corsair vengeance 1333Mhz

I have done the following:
  • Connected to fastest SATA 3 Intel series 7 port with SATA 3 cable
  • Ensured Write Caching is enabled (and tested it both enabled and disabled)
  • Tested in safe mode and normal windows with either of the two Intel series 7 SATA 3 ports

So questions are:
  1. Do I have a problem?
  2. Any suggestions on fixing this?

You have a 480GB version, not the 240GB.

You may be stuck with those 4K write speeds.

Oh i see, so it's normal to have 20MB/s as opposed to 60 - 80MB/S because I have double the storage?

was just searching around on these drives and came across your thread.

Don't know if you got more of an explanation on this or not...

This is based off of what I have seen on this drive, so I may be incorrect here

To expand on what I believe Sean was trying to say is the 240GB Corsair GS is capable of 90k IOPS (which I think relates to random 4k writes per second), Where the 300 & 480GB model sadly only does 50k IOPS

I didn't catch that myself until after I placed an order for two of these to use in RAID 0 (wanting to ditch my two WD blacks that I currently havre all my games on), but really from looking around it seems that the vast majority of larger capacity SSDs have lower IOPS.
