Need some help fixing a bent pin LGA775

Heya OCN,

I'm round a friends house helping him with a motherboard upgrade. Turns out we have a single bent pin right in the middle of the socket.

I have a pretty steady hand so I'm guessing I could just bend it back, it appears to be bent around 80 degrees clockwise and also bent upwards slightly. would it be OK to bend back then? Is there a chance of it snapping off altogether?

straighten it up, it'll be fine!

As long as it's straight enough to align into the (right) hole.

What he said. Straighten it out and you'll be fine. Even if it breaks I've seen cases where the rig still runs perfectly fine. Just use some needle nose pliers and take it slow.

you dont have to bend it so its as straight as the ones next to it.

I have 2 bent pins that only worked if I left them bent so that they were a little higher up, or else they would not make contact.

. These little pins are surprisingly flexible, I would just have expected them to snap off XD.

Let us know how you went. Pretty confident all is well.

Yeah, they're soft and malleable. Squish a chunk of the pins it gets messy, but they're usually fixable.

Okay So we bent the pin back and we can boot into bios but it keeps saying that the CPU is 100 deg. c.

It's also acting fairly odd...
