Will a Q9300 work of a Dell

Thread Starter
Hi Guys

Im helping a friend out with upgrading his PC from parts that were donated by the group of friends.

Currently he is using a Pentium E5200
its a LGA 775 sotcket

We got him a Core 2 Quad Q9300 and a Core 2 Duo E6400. Will it work with this Motherboard? With his current stock Heat sink?

Link to the new CPU and Current Pentium CPU
http://ark.intel.com/compare/37212,33922,27249

I noticed that the Pentium system bus is 800 MHz where as the C2C is 1066 MHz and C2D is 1333 MHz.

His motherboard is
MB Brand : Dell
MB Model : 0N826N
NB : Intel P35/G33/G31 rev A2
SB : Intel 82801IR (ICH9R) rev 02

CPU-Z ID

IDK if it will for sure work, but if it does, likely it will run at the 800mhz FSB - I wouldn't go with the stock heatsink as it was only meant to dissipate heat from a dual core vs. a quad core which takes a much better heatsink

P35/G33 chipsets do support C2Q processors, so you're good in that. And the FSB would run at 1333Mhz.

It'll work. Make sure it has the latest BIOS though. And the stock heatsink should be fine, just watch the temps for a day or so.
