Ultrasone 750 vs V-moda lp2

I've been reading reviews for the last 2 days and I can't seem to make up my mind on a pair of headphones. I am torn now between the 750s and the lp2s.

I listen to a lot of electronic music, mostly electronic actually, but do love some Rage and heavier tracks when I am at the rec. These will be brought with me to the rec as well as used at home. Does anyone have any opinions on these 2 cans? I love the look of the LP2s and I opted for the 750s over the 550s because they have received nothing but great reviews. Help me OCN, I can't make up my mind. Both seem to be great headphones and seem portable enough. Anyone have any experience with either?

If aesthetics means more to you than sound then get the LPs, if sound means more to you than aesthetics, get the ultrasones.

Sound quality is the main priority, then aesthetics. I was asking since I was planning on the 750s but saw the lp2s for only a little more. Is there really that big of a difference in sq between the two?

Is there anything else worth looking into in this price range?

That said, yeah there is a huge difference in quality. The Ultrasones are way better.

Ha I know, you've seen me go through all the loops on this journey to my headphones. Started off with an $80 budget and was considering skullcandies... then moved to the xb500/xb700s... then upped the budget to $120 to check out the HiFi 580s... then to $145 for the Pro 550s... and here we are at over double the original budget looking into the 750s lol, this went just like my recent PC build redface.gif It is just one of those moments where I ask myself why I would spend this much money to settle for a pair of headphones when for a bit more I can get the headphones that I actually want. But it is a vicious cycle because then for only $20 more...rolleyes.gif

I am going up to Guitar Center tomorrow to check out a few pairs they have there and to actually hear what they all sound like. Have my mind set on the 750s as of now though, but who knows what I will come back with in my head by tomorrow night. Anything I should consider checking out while I am there?

Guiitar Centers have an abundance of Beyerdynamic DT770s you should check out. Good headphone with strong bass. Check out the Ultrasone line up as well, Ultrasone HFI-2400(remember 750 is better than 2400.) if they carry them. Denon headphones.

well after wasting a tank of gas driving to guitar center, best buy, and hhgregg hoping that one of these stores would at least carry some decent headphones I could test I come home without even putting a single pair of cans on. The best, and I use that word lightly, I could find were a pair of beats at each store. I asked the guy at GC if they even carried ultrasones or denons and he gave me this weird look and said he had never even heard of them and said they were probably not that high quality and were an "off-brand". I explained how they had them listed on their site and he still was dumbfounded. Then he asked me what I was looking for in a pair of headphones and suggested that I look at the beats by dre... I have lost a lot of respect for GC, a lot of respect. Guess I am just going to order through Amazon and trust everyone's opinion here that the 750s are great headphones.

Did you expect any less? He doesn't know anything about the products there, he's just trying to make a sale and the Beats are definitely the right item to make money on. Did you know that the frame for the Beats is actually worth less than 8 dollars? Crazy.

I was expecting a little more out of GC, I mean all they do is sell audio equipment and instruments. Then I explained to him how I could get a pair of denons or ultrasones for a fraction of the price and combo them with a DAC (which by the look on his face he had no idea what a DAC was...) for way better performance and he really didn't have much to say.

You would think they would train these guys a little before hiring them, or even require them to do a little research about products while they are there. This was almost as bad as when I went to the Microcenter and asked a sales associate if they carried g500s or ducky boards and he walked me over to the computer techs in the build it yourself section and left me with them. We all had a good laugh once he walked away but still... why don't they train employees anymore??

Brick and Mortar stores are going broke for many reasons and I suspect they don't have the time/money to train these kids nor the want/need. They figure if this kid isn't completely brain dead he'll be able to point someone in the way of something that makes the store money and that's good enough.

Stores don't make money off value products, they make it off products that destroy peoples wallets and people want because they want to make a statement, ie Apple products, Beats etc.
