or do i need something like this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5019763&csid=_61

Please help me out. i want to kill myself ive already spent so much money!!!! Is there anywhere i can just buy a Windows 7 ult product key?????????

Sorry mate, didn't look properly. I still don't understand why you don't use the key that came with your Win 7 ultimate then.

Get Retail, OEM is for pre-built PCs. You would have issues activating if you decided to use it after upgrading hardware.

I've always used oem versions of Windows and never had trouble activating after upgrading.

It shouldn't automatically activate if you replace your motherboard, and you have to call MS to explain them and activate it by phone. At least that's how it's supposed to work.

So just buy a windows 7 64bit home premium key? Whats the issue here?

OEM - Cannot be transferred from the computer you install it on.
Retail - Can be transferred within limitations from computers.

Basically if your gonna keep your pc, buy OEM. If you plan on changing it within one to two years, buy Retail. Also dont buy Ultimate unless you need the extra features, just go for home premium.
