What is a good Anti Virus and Firewall

Thread Starter
Hi, right now my AVG Subscription is running out and I'm in need for a replacement, I found AVG quite annoying and I wasn't really happy with it due to the countless false positives which either delete your file or restrict you from accessing it without giving you an option, I want something which Isn't going to annoy me but will protect my system and only notify me when something is wrong or a certain file is detected as a virus and will give me the option to let it be or remove it.

I was thinking of getting Free Avast and using Windows firewall but is Windows firewall a substantial firewall? I want my computer to be secure and leave me without fear of obtaining viruses or getting hacked, I'm very cautious and careful of what I download.

Programs Ive used in the past:
Avast: I loved this program and It wasn't annoying, It just let me be but I heard that It isn't strong enough to tackle certain things.
Comodo: Gave me a blue screen of death, I will never use it ever again, (I didn't even get to use the damn program)
AVG: It was alright but became annoying and the constant subscriptions aren't nice.
Windows firewall: I haven't used this lengthy only for when I first got my system and was deciding what to get.

Any help would be greatly appreciative.

Hmm well quick comment on my AVG, I use the free version of AVG and I've never gotten a virus.

Microsoft Security Essentials.

Also no matter what, no firewall or anti virus can replace common sense and careful browsing, so i'd recommend that.

I agree with Fooxz. MSE and some common sense should be all you need.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them out when I get the chance, I like Malwarebytes and CCleaner but MSE sounds very popular so It's bound to be good.

Another +1 for mse.
Your routers firewall and nat will already handle the inbound wan protection unless you have port forwarded to specific services

Tbh, common sense is the best internet security...

But if you really want a program, Kaspersky, AVG and MSE are all good. thumb.gifbiggrin.gif

I use COMODO Firewall and MSE but i will buy Kaspersky when their 2013 verions comes out.

Kaspersky and Bitdefender are the best paid anti-virus programs out there.
