[WarZForums] The War Z vs DayZ - ALL TRUTHS REVEALED - Page 6

I've seen live feeds, heard from clan members about this game. The idea is sound, but DayZ looks way boring...

Looking forward to War Z!

Could you please share a link to the thread or provide a direct quote? I'd be very interested in seeing it, because that most certainly speaks contrary to the purported basis of The WarZ's existence.

Here comes the interesting part, in the forum post on War Inc. forums, Titov says the following:

What it means for War Inc. community ? First of all - we'll invite all of our active players to participate in Alpha test. Second - ( looks like game will be solf as pay per play product for like $20 or something ) - you'll get special offer if tyou decide to buy it. And third - if you'll got into game and will have \certain items bought permanently in War Inc ( heroes, certain weapons ) - they will be available as unlocked items in zombie game as well.?

So - couple weeks ago they sent us video showcasing extra cool idea - huge open world infested with zombies. And they asked us - can be make changes to the engine so it be capable of supporting like 500-1000 players on the same map plus thousands of zombies at same time. We've been talking about what they want to do, discussed ideas and right now they're making kinds proof of concept - first ever persistent world zopmbie survival MMO .

Titov says here that the production studio Hammerpoint Interactive only started conceptualizing "a few weeks ago," which means April or May 2012.

My mistake being a month off on the timing, though I was a month off in their favor >.<</div>

Day Z's forums opened April 24th, and I honestly did not know anything about Day Z until May 2nd, when the announcement video was all over the Internet. Did anyone here know about Day Z before May? This is another of those OCN scenarios where, just because 2 different products released at the same time, one is a total copy of the other. By OCN consensus, there's no possibility for any 2 people on this planet to come up with the same idea within a short period apart without knowledge of each others' idea.

Day Z went public by accident, he had just been looking for 30-40 testers and got hundreds, who told hundreds more, ect. Most of Day Z's popularity came around the end of April, but Day Z had servers up in March. The CHKilroy videos are from before the "launch" announcement- the first was April 10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRpPIyJDSEQ and they were just the first group to go very public with it. TBQH, that "video showcasing extra cool idea - huge open world infested with zombies" could have been CHKilroy's.

I'm confused... they're being accused of copying the ArmA mod because they're developing an open-world zombie game? So what? Zombie games are practically a genre at this point, and open-world is just another feature. Maybe they saw DayZ's popularity and decided to develop a similar game.. that's copying? Newp. If that were the case, every fantasy themed MMO to come out post 2004 would be copying WoW. It's a genre. Devs learn from what's worked in the past. C'est la vie.

And wow would be a copy of every D&D game, which in turn is a copy of LOTR.

One does not simply copy games, unless its exactly the same.

I don't have too much of a problem with this (despite it being around $50 total for Day Z if you want standalone) since it supports the devs. I think it is good for Bohemia to get onboard with the Day Z devs since obviously the mod was more popular than Arma itself.
