good monitor for portrait mode?

Hey guys, I am looking to get a second monitor to use in portrait orientation for when I am trading stock, surfing the net, multi tasking and for monitoring computer specs while gaming.

My desk wont allow three displays at all cause it is a roll top with build in shelves on one side and removable ones on the other.

I was looking through newegg.com to see if I could find a monitor but I wasnt seeing anything about portrait in the spec list.

Am I looking for the wrong thing or is the only way you can get that is through getting a different stand?

If it helps at all the space that it is going to be in is about 18" from desk top to the roof and 15" wide from the edge of my other monitor which is a 22" Viewsonic 1080p display.

Any help is appreciated.

Rotates to portrait mode.

However, an alternative is to buy a VESA compliant monitor and buy a VESA mount that swivels into portrait.

hey thanks, I dont think that will work because its too wide to fit, but I will look for the VESA compliant monitors.

p.s. I love La Jolla, almost got married there.

No problem! I love La Jolla as well, I currently go to school at UCSD, love the weather here.

I just measured my PA 248Q in portrait mode and it only spans 11in wide.

Even smaller: http://www.amazon.com/HP-LA2205wg-Widescreen-Screen-Monitor/dp/B002RW08EC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1344803842&sr=1-1&keywords=hp+22+monitor

9.1" wide while in portrait.

But the Asus Pro Art Series are hands down the best value because of the calibrated IPS screen.

Edit: Oh I just realized what you meant by too wide. 18" from desktop to roof is quite a limitation. Looks like you will need a 17" monitor then
