question about win 7 pro upgrade from home

Thread Starter
I just got my new laptop and I thought it had an offer for win 7 pro for 15 bucks but it is for win 8 pro and i dont want that. So I can get the upgrade from micro for students for 64 bucks plus 14 for the disk to upgrade. My question is if the you know whether or not the disk will alow me to install win 7 pro on a new SSD once I get it on the same laptop. I know the OEM versions are only allowed to be reinstalled on the same computer with the same mobo. before i buy the student upgrade I wanted to be sure otherwise I will just purchase a full retail version disk.
