Asus G75 Laptop randomly shuts off

I don't really understand why it does this? But sometimes it's when I'm playing a game and it will just shut off. Most times I'm just on the desktop like browsing or on steam chat with someone and it just shuts off. I don't get it because I just bought this a month ago. I leave it plugged in nearly all the time because it runs better when it's in.

It does this sometimes like once a day or once every 2 days. When it shuts off it's just like a restart. Like I don't have to press the power button again, it just turns on by itself.

Don't always keep it plugged in as it can damage the battery as for shutting down you could install HWmonitor to check the temperatures incase of thermal issues,

This sounds like my G73. Nbridge overheated alot. Try it bottom cover off, battery removed with a laptop cooler- or fan.

Vbios update & Modded display drivers also help temps & performance immensely, worth a shot

I bought a fan but someone said this things cooler should be good enough. I'll start using it though. And I don't see why it would be overheating if I'm just on my desktop!

I have the same problem. Now it happened two times already (I have G75 from amazon for 3 months). Great laptop thought. It's a shame it starts doing crap.

On Republic of Gamers Forum one person suggested to turn off Hibernation (see http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?20492-G75VW-randomly-shuts-down-(and-then-reloads)&country=&status=), it may solve the problem. I noticed that my shut down follow Hibernation.

Hey man, just wanna let you know I have the exact same G75, same specs and same problem. Just started yesterday and I've only had this laptop for 5 months. Nothing out of the ordinary happened to it before the problem started. It happens when I'm gaming or just browsing. It's been through SO MUCH more stress before like playing a game while rendering a video and it didn't show any weakness then. I know I'm not exactly giving a solution but hey, misery loves company. Someone please give us a fix for this please.

I have the exact same issue; $1500 G75VW, this started happening after I installed Win8 and updated my graphics drivers a few days ago. It will decide to do a hard shutdown about 10-15 minutes after I turn it on for the first time each day, and after that, it will work fine for the rest of the day. Something tells me it is a problem with the graphics drivers, but I would really love to know how exactly to fix it!

I've got a g73 same issue. played wow on it for abt a year with no problems, started playing gw2 recently and now it's randomly shutting down. I'd had problems with this overheating (they put very very little thermal compound on the cpu and was going wayyy hot while gaming, monitored, fixed) but this is different. sometimes it shuts off after 1 minute of gameplay and sometimes after 5 hours. sometimes it does it a couple times in a row, and others, not at all. only constant in this god awful predicament is that it looooves to happen when i'm in an instance of any kind and more likely to be pissed about it. well, that and it only happens while playing guild wars. any thread revival and assistance would be greatly appreciated. ftr, all drivers up to date and not an overheating issue.
