3570K stability dilemma

Thread Starter
I've just overclocked my 3570K to 4.5ghz at 1.27v

Is this a decent overclock? I can only go this far with my h60.

However, during IBT the flame animation becomes a cross, but the test still finishes normally telling me that my system is stable. Should I believe it? Prime passes too.(blend 12hrs)

BF3 doesnt crash at all when overclocked. Could my windows have gotten corrupted and acting bad?

Thanks

PS- what voltage do you guys use for 4.4-4.5ghz?

To pass stability tests I need 1.23v for 4.4GHz, but to eliminate any and all WHEA errors I need 1.25v for 4.4GHz.

As long as BF3 doesn't crash (which is more reliable than any stability test) then you're good. My 3570K is stable as 4.50Ghz @ 1.200V.

Thanks guys!

I'm still stressing it at 1.275 since BF3 gave me a fatal error.

Anyway Tslm said that he needs more volts for eliminating WHEA errors, Now whats WHEA? I may have encountered some of them. What are the symptoms?

They show up in your Event Viewer, under the system section. They indicate that your processor caught an error and was able to correct it. They show up as WHEA LOGGER warnings.

I'd like to see some evidence to back that up..

Many, many games may play flawlessly, but that doesn't mean your system is stable. And if it isn't, look forward to losing data/having to re install Windows 3-6 months down the road.
Why upgrade?

BF3 isn't a realiable stability tester. It is so buggy that sometimes it crashes without a reason. That or me and all of my friends have faulty gpus/cpus @stock. I've gotten a few random crashes without any overclocking, so just stick to prime/ibt/other games for stability testing.
