[NZH] Kim Dotcom and the 'doomsday device' - Page 2

Thread Starter

To delete all evidence of piracy wouldn't you have to delete all the pirated content as well? Impossible considering the FBI already had possession of his servers.

Most underwhelming doomsdag device ever. And here I was thinking we were dealing with some Dr. Strangelove'esque situation.

I feel bad knowing that our FBI forced the waste of tons of New Zealand tax payer's money on unnecessary items such as a helicopter and police bodies. They should take the entire operations cost out of the Chief's income to recuperate for it.

Haven't you heard countries are taking down pirates to please the US *cough* demonoid*cough*

Wow, if they're going to make something up, they should try having a little more imagination. This entire operation is a comedy of errors.

They aren't necessarily making it up. There are a lot of appointments in the decision-making levels of U.S. law enforcement and a lot of non-appointment positions held by people who "worked" their way up purely on political skill. Add that to the people that simply have no technical aptitude or skill, and a culture in which not being "technical" is good for your advancement prospects and you have a perfect storm of ignorance.

Of course, they also very well could be making it up, since that same perfect storm of ignorance is pretty pervasive in pretty much every aspect of government and business, so there really won't be enough people whose opinions matter that recognize it as nonsense for there to be any repercussions from the lie.

That being said, the "doomsday device" is quite imaginative enough. We have enough policy being based on irrational beliefs and imagined threats as it is. I really don't want to what else they can come up with.

I would hope someone as smart as Kim, or anyone in possession of such a ridiculous/possibly powerful "weapon" wouldn't store it in their basement.
