GTX580 SLI not using its full potential.

Hey.
Having trouble with Fallout: New Vegas
The GPU's are only running with maximum 16% usage, which causes the FPS to be around 30-40 and lag spikes when using the pip-boy.

I have tried tweaking the settings via nVidia control panel, tried using just a single card, updated my drivers, tried using the d3d9.dll fix.
Still, it runs with very bad FPS with or without high quality texture packs.
It ran very smoothly when I started playing it, but suddenly the FPS just dropped.

I have also overclocked my i7 920 CPU to almost 4.0GHz so I'm sure it's not bottlenecking and there aren't problems with other games.

Guestion is: What to do to increase GPU usage from 10% to whatever is needed to get smooth gameplay?

Thanks!

How do other games run?

New Vegas isn't the best game to base your experience off of, I just fired it up then and my 680 didn't even wake up out of sleep mode for it even during the vast wasteland parts.
Highest I clocked was 30% GPU usage, 700mhz clock. Most other games it hits 1300+

I stated on my post that other games don't have any problems.
Is there any way to force the GPU usage to go higher than 8%-16% when playing? Or is New Vegas just so badly optimized that it's not possible?

You can try adding a 3D profile from Nvidia Control Panel. Just keep it as your normal settings. It might cause it to wake up during gameplay. It might not fix the problem though. It's just a guess.
